Louisville self imposes more sanctions

This is like when you cut out something during a fast and you choose eating brussels sprout.

More sanctions done at the recommendation of Chuck Smrt and in concert with the NCAA folks in Indianapolis. They're trying... we'll see if it pays off.

If they really want their self-imposed sanctions to pay off, they'd do the obvious thing they seem to be trying to avoid at all costs...

They've been talking through this thing every step of the way with the investigations folks at the NCAA. If it wasn't going to pay off, I can't imagine Smrt would be recommending any of it.

We all know that the NCAA is all over the place when it comes to penalties. Nobody has any idea what their thinking is at any given moment. The administration here is trying the "kiss everyone's butt in Indy and see what it gets us" approach.

How in the hell does Pitino still have a job?

He's in the club. The money men don't step on each others' toes until the moment they have to.

Everyone involved with this at UofL will look like fools if the NCAA hands out ANY other punishment at this point...

I don't agree. The idea behind all of this was to lessen the punishment and when it comes time for the final decision, we're really never going to know what the penalties "might have been". The interesting comparison is going to be UNC, when that whole thing is finally done. They're pretending like nothing happened and if they get nothing more than a slap on the wrist... then Louisville will have looked foolish for doing anything to themselves.

Not enough, if you're gonna keep Rick you need to ban another post season.

If they are counting on what Chuck Smrt is telling them, any further sanctions means, IMO, they should have just left it alone. Who is to say ANY of this is going to make a difference to the NCAA? What if they double every thing UofL has already imposed?

I agree. If they really wanted to do something that would carry weight with the NCAA, they need to show Pitino the door IMO. The postseason ban they just had and the ousting of the HC should be plenty IMO.
