Really?? Thanks for pointing out the obvious, and trying twist what I said. But that's not what I said, nor was that my point. My point is looking back, I pointed out a few names of guys who when taking a critical view of past winners, they were pretty good college players, and might have even been one of the best the year they won the award. But while they are good, most of them wouldn't be all time greats despite winning the Heisman. The NFL comment just goes further to point out, that these guys also aren't necessarily the most talented guys either.

Comparing stats between Troy Smith and the first 3 you named who you thought were worse Heisman winners than Troy Smith (Manziel, Tebow, Leinart), Troy Smith doesn't even come close to the numbers each of those three put up.

And all three you mentioned played after winning the award, and never really matched the success they had in their Heisman year. And I wouldn't consider any among the all time greats. Manziel was frigging great both seasons. He was still a Heisman finalist in his second year, he just didn't win the award. Many argued his second season was better because he had one of the worst defenses I had ever seen.

 

Smith falls into the category of players that win the award because they are the best player on the best team in the country. He was still really good in his Heisman winning campaign and he had no competition from lapping the field.

When Troy Smith visits the Heisman House, Bo makes him do dishes, cut the grass and take out the trash.
