March 19, 201610 yr Don't get too caught up in polls, wasn't there just a poll before Christmas that showed Americans were much less worried about climate than they had been in the past? The opinion conversion cited in post #29 is real. Global warming deniers are traveling the same road that Big Tobacco traveled a couple-three decades ago: Develop some industry-funded, contradictory "scientific" studies to buy some time. Meanwhile, the public eventually says, yeah, the scientific community is right.
March 19, 201610 yr Here's the thing. Americans have long believed that there are man-made climate influences, but since we have gigantic carbon footprints, we haven't "worried". That has started to change. Similar phenomenon in China.
March 19, 201610 yr And to be clear, I've never believed that climate change/global warming is completely or even predominantly man-made. But to completely shrug it off without taking any ownership or stewardship is naive at best; possibly catastrophic at worst. As I've said before, mass deforestation worries me most.

So don't throw your heart into them.
March 20, 201610 yr I guess he was thinking out of the box to take that. Something many conservatives cannot (no will not) do. Thinking outside the box is great for technological breakthroughs or business innovations. But there is nothing innovative about government taking excessive amounts of money from a producer to give to a non-producer, who is not willing to become a producer.

Sorry you can't see thinking out of the box for about any issue. That is how great things get accomplished.
March 21, 201610 yr Sorry you can't see thinking out of the box for about any issue. That is how great things get accomplished. What is sorry is thinking that government has the answers. Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, Veterans Affairs and now even Obamacare, all have major problems. Allowing for individual retirement accounts, individual health accounts and allowing vets to see their own doctors with government oversight, but not government run, would cure these problems. There may still need to be some aid to those truly in need. I will always believe that in cases like those mentioned above will be better handled by the average American citizen.
March 21, 201610 yr And I think we can disavow the notion that President Obama is doing this to curry favor among EKY voters. There are more DINOs in the Commonwealth than in the Mesozoic Era. :lol2:
