2006 Rax Bowl Predictions: Harlan vs. Cawood

The Dragons should have the "D" to keep Cawood's offense at bay. The big Q for Harlan is the offense. The Dragons moved the ball well against Knox Central in their scrimage on Saturday. As cliche' as it sounds, though with a cross town rivalry, sometimes emotion can carry a long way. Anything can happen, but I'm betting The Big Green will get it together before halftime and blow it open in the 4th.

this one could be close and come down to a kicking game or a battle of field position....

Does anyone know who Harlan is running out of the Back field? What about Cawood?

:argue: :fight: Unlike what many of the people on this post are saying, I don't think this game will be close. However, I understand that Harlan will be a little short handed with the loss of now RB/S John Lundy who is suspended. This kid has proven to be the most athletic player on this team in the past (with the exception of Teddy Thompson who is now gone) and will be missed on both sides of the ball (especially as a running threat which Jones isn't). Harlan is supposedly starting the Jones kid at QB which will be interesting to see. I saw him out at Cawood when they had their first scrimmages and he seemed to be easily rattled at the beginning of the scrimmage. It will be interesting to see how he holds up against a Cawood defense which, while they are below average, will bring a lot of heat his way. In the end I say Harlan just has too many threats with Casey Belcher, Will Pope and Jones (if he keeps his composure and will get rid of the ball quickly) for this game to stay close. Harlan 35 Cawood 6:fight::argue:

I really didn't think Harlan moved the ball all that well in the scrimmage. Still, unless Cawood has drasticaly improved from last season, Harlan should take this one.

Harlan - 22

Cawood - 20

Har - Casey Belcher 21 car. 164 yds 2tds

Har - Will Pope 4 cat. 84 yds td... plus an int on defense

Caw - The Mikey's (Hensley and White) run for 223 yds on 32 car. 3 tds

Caw - TJ Green 9 car 91 yds

Just a guess!!!

Not to be picky, because I actually like the depth of your analysis, but 3 TDs for Belcher and 1 TD for Pope would be more than 22 Harlan points.

Is there still such a place as Rax?

actually yes, at least in Harlan! Roast beef sandwiches and a pretty decent hot/cold bar. Owned by Bill Douglass of London,Ky (formerly of Harlan) and Charles Dozier, a great older gentleman that presents the trophy every year. He would love to give it to the Trojans this year. Love ya Charles, but here's hoping the Dragons keep it another year.
