Mason County 48 Augusta 41 (10th Region Championship)

Featured Replies

This is unarguable....Augusta did not lose tonight. Mason Co. Royals won this Championship and deserved the victory. Smothering defense and rebounding was the major difference between District and Regional Championships. Congrats to Royals and Coach Biggs for a job well done. Royals were outstanding protecting their leads with solid FT shooting. Two players standout in my minds...Pig Williams was tremendous on defense and solid from FTs in 4th...and Levi Dunaway was big off the bench in first half neutralizing Panthers early game momentum.

Augusta only had nine Field Goals for the game. Hit 18 FT's. Augusta boys can score with the best of teams. Just not sure of the strategy of slowing the pace down was a good one. They beat us in the District with a faster pace.

Where are those MC fans that wanted to fire Biggs now?

Seems like a good coach to me.

They like a winner so I doubt they're saying anything, for now.

Don't everybody like a winner?

A huge amount of credit for the Royals victory tonight goes to 3 people:

Levi Dunaway(offense from out of the blue)

Pig( defense and denial when guarding Maddox)

Coach Biggs(as has been stated many times, returned only 1 player with many varsity minutes coming into season and everyone on BGP knows about the pre-season drama SUPPOSEDLY with Pig transferring, parents mad, uncles mad,etc,etc.).

Both teams seemed to have left a lot on the floor last night, not a crisp game by either.

Great job of hosting by Montgomery County staff, from getting in and getting out, to concessions(nice to have adults working it) to national anthem, half time, etc.

Everything first class all the way, love the area, the facilities that they have there for the other sports, etc.

Hope it is back there when it is due

Great post! Maybe this will hush the haters... The 40th is great hospitality and have tremendous respect for AD Letcher and his staff for putting on a first class show. It's only fair each district gets to hold the region. Look forward to Clarks new facilty so everyone can make "the drive to hell again". Good luck Mason--- rep the 10th at RUPP!!!!

I would assume... but people were crucifying the man before he even coached his first game at Mason. He's proven he can coach.

Augusta slowed the ball down because playing only 6 players they was getting a little fatigue. They was a step slower tonight than usual. Mason county plays very good defense when allowed to hand check all over the court. The one point that swung the momentum back to mason county after Augusta went on ten to zero run to take lead was with about 328 left on clock in fourth quarter. Augusta up 1cam Sapp shots open three misses mason county rebounds ball and is clearly standing out of bounds with it before throwing it off Owen and the ref standing right there says he was in bounds. What a joke. So proud of these group of boys for all they have accomplished and wish them all a bright future.

On a side note.

Coming back to Mason County, still in MoCo about 3 miles from the Bath County line. 9:18 according to the clock in the car.

Anyone else see that crazy bright meteor falling out of the northeast?

Mcpapa, you weren't lighting anything up on the road trip, were you?

Not a hater, but just too far to take in a casual game. And for the record, the quote read "the other side of hell". I've been there before when I had a dog in the hunt. Great venue, great area and a beautiful road trip.

Congrats to the Royals! Show Rupp what the 10th has to offer!

Know what you mean, but you only have to do it once every 4 years. Where we have to do it 3 out of 4.

Yea when you guys were losing to lex Catholic the sky was falling.

It was and it is a marathon, 7+ teams had a chance to win the region, it may be many years before we see that again.

Almost seemed surreal watching Augusta in a 10th region final.

Location, location, location!
