My daughter (who took the shot) said she got hit, but never expected them to call that. She wasn't upset with it at all. She only said it because she was talking about how crazy it would have been to be at the line by yourself with 3 shots to tie or go home.

 

The way they called the game today that was a love tap and I mean that both ways for both teams.

I'm assuming tjb10 is referring to losing an 8 point lead. I thought the coaching staff had a great game plan and for the most part the kids did exactly what they were asked.. yes losing an eight-point lead was tough to swallow but then again missing 10 layups in the first half was also tough. It happens just watch any girls game. Its a game of runs and fortunately for Ryle they made the last run. Congrats to Ryle.. they are very good team and congrats to Highlands on very hard fought season!

Great game. I think we all knew it would be. Back and forth. I really felt HHS might pull away and keep the lead when they went up 7. They had the momentum and up 7, Coffey finds Adler for a wide open three (one of her only good looks of the night) and it rimmed out. It would have put HHS up 10 and the momentum. But Ryle fought back. They changed to the 1-3-1 and slowed HHS tremendously for a key couple minutes and allowed Ryle to get right back in it. Every possession was huge for both teams. Very intense to the end.

 

Congrats to Ryle for hanging on. Playing the schedule they did and challenging themselves throughout the season prepared them for this. Nice job!

 

End of an era at HHS with the senior class. Adler, Leigh, Coffey and Schultz have been an absolute pleasure to watch for a long time. All these kids are class acts off the court, very smart and have and outstanding future ahead of them. Can't wait to see the next stage play out.

 

I will root for whatever team comes out of the ninth cause I really like both teams that are left. But I'm gonna give a slight edge of my cheers to Ryle. After a very rough high school road, just like to see them get to make up for all that. No hate for the Bulldogs, really like their team as well and will become a 9th region fan regardless who wins!!

Fun game to watch, couldn't figure out what end to shoot because you never want a bunch of pics from the wrong side of the tote board. Two great teams, going at it the entire game. We needed a game like that. Good luck to both teams Sunday in the championship game.

I thoroughly enjoyed covering the Highlands girls hoops team for four years now. It will be different without Leigh, Adler, Schultz and Haley Coffey around next season. But they were awesome to work with.

As for Ryle, Katie Haitz and staff have done an outstanding job there. To borrow a paraphrase from Warren Sapp, the cake was in the oven and this staff put icing on it.

What a game! As a Ryle fan I'm so proud of the Lady Raiders for the teamwork and poise under pressure that allowed them to pull off this win. As a fan of HS Girls basketball, highest level of respect for HHS, particular the great careers of 4 outstanding young ladies that will graduate this year. It truly was a game neither team deserved to loose. Lee had

a monster game and I thought Coffee kept her team in winning mode all night. Congrats to the lady birds on a great season!

The Highlands seniors have had a great ride and have been blessed with great coaching and family support. Timing is everything. I thought last years team was one of the best they have had and unfortunately for Highlands the state champion was in the 9th Region last year. Great career for all those seniors!
