Very entertaining game.

Birds had the momentum in the 2nd and most of the 3rd before Ryle regained it.

 

They (Highlands) were driving the rack and shooting foul shots, but after about the 3:00 mark in the 3rd abandoned that. The missed gimmes were a big killer.

How'd scoring wind up? Sounded like Leigh was the whole show early, and Scherr came through again. Scherr with two outstanding games, and I hate to jinx her, but if they pull off one more win, she would certainly be in the conversation for MVP of the regional. Has that ever happened before, an 8th grader MVP?

Ryle had 3 players in double digits. yes, Scherr with 13, Mallory Schwartz with 13, Lange with 12.

 

Not sure about highlands, but I believe Leigh was in double digits first quarter.

Should have said it before, but congratulations to the Highlands seniors, McKenzie Leigh, Haley Coffey and Brianna Adler. Great careers, with four trips to the regional semi-finals ... You were the heart of an outstanding program for years ... Good luck going forward. All are fine athletes and could continue their athletic careers at the next level if they choose to, but regardless, I know all three families and mean it sincerely when I say, as an outsider looking in, you have much to be proud of with those three. Winners all the way.

Ryle is a tough team.

Ryle looked down for the count halfway through the 3rd. Highlands pushed a lead to about 8 and the Lady Raiders looked dead. One of their guards penetrated down the middle for a nice looking layup and it seemed to energize them. I think they were up 1 at the end of the 3rd. I think.

My daughter (who took the shot) said she got hit, but never expected them to call that. She wasn't upset with it at all. She only said it because she was talking about how crazy it would have been to be at the line by yourself with 3 shots to tie or go home.

Should have never been in that situation. Unreal, can't make this stuff up with HHS.

Well I have no nails left! It's really tough watching your daughter play her last game. I don't recommend it if you have a heart issue!!

 

Great game. I think we all knew it would be. Back and forth. I really felt HHS might pull away and keep the lead when they went up 7. They had the momentum and up 7, Coffey finds Adler for a wide open three (one of her only good looks of the night) and it rimmed out. It would have put HHS up 10 and the momentum. But Ryle fought back. They changed to the 1-3-1 and slowed HHS tremendously for a key couple minutes and allowed Ryle to get right back in it. Every possession was huge for both teams. Very intense to the end.

 

Congrats to Ryle for hanging on. Playing the schedule they did and challenging themselves throughout the season prepared them for this. Nice job!

 

End of an era at HHS with the senior class. Adler, Leigh, Coffey and Schultz have been an absolute pleasure to watch for a long time. All these kids are class acts off the court, very smart and have and outstanding future ahead of them. Can't wait to see the next stage play out.

 

I will root for whatever team comes out of the ninth cause I really like both teams that are left. But I'm gonna give a slight edge of my cheers to Ryle. After a very rough high school road, just like to see them get to make up for all that. No hate for the Bulldogs, really like their team as well and will become a 9th region fan regardless who wins!!
