March 3, 201610 yr Colin Kaepernick, Robert Griffin III don't have bright NFL future | The MMQB with Peter King

But alas I think that RGIII may end up in LA It would be fitting that Washington unloaded picks to St. Louis to draft RGIII, then have the Rams get him for pennies.
March 3, 201610 yr It would be fitting that Washington unloaded picks to St. Louis to draft RGIII, then have the Rams get him for pennies. That would be the only good thing about it. Rams received I think 4 total picks and traded a few of them and ended up with 6 or 7 players for RGIII. Now they can pick him up for a song.
March 3, 201610 yr Moral of the story: Don't spend a 1st round pick on a QB. Corollary : Expecting a college QB to have immediate success in the NFL is not realistic.
March 3, 201610 yr Moral of the story: Don't spend a 1st round pick on a QB. Corollary : Expecting a college QB to have immediate success in the NFL is not realistic. Sometimes it's worth it. Was Kap a 1st rounder?
March 3, 201610 yr Author The telling part for both of them is something I've highlighted, more so about RGIII. Neither are able to read simple coverages or make basic decisions. The game moves too fast for them. Physically they have the talent, upstairs they do not.
March 4, 201610 yr Moral of the story: Don't spend a 1st round pick on a QB. Corollary : Expecting a college QB to have immediate success in the NFL is not realistic. Both comments are a bit of a stretch, although your corollary if a little closer being correct. It's not as simple as saying never draft a QB in the first round. Look at how many success stories there are. I think the problem comes when teams feel like they HAVE to draft a QB early and make a pick despite the warning signs. Almost universally QB's that are picked high, go to bad teams, and sometimes bad situations. Some of these never have a chance because of the situation they get put int. Now I don't believe that's true with Kaepernick. Griffin did get stuck in the craziness of Daniel Snyder and the Redskins. But both were considered more "athletes" than great QB's coming out of college. And those are the guys that tend to fail.
