March 1, 201610 yr I agree with Clyde. Pitcher stepped off the rubber so no problem with that move. In my opinion, any kid who is off the base with the pitcher off the rubber deserves to get picked off. Pitcher steps off the rubber. You get back on the base till he steps back on that rubber.

March 1, 201610 yr One downside to this move. Anyone? A couple downsides...although I'm guessing, Clyde, you've got something else in mind. 1. You better hope your first basemen is aware of the move and knows it's coming. 2. You get one shot at this...after doing it once, the surprise is gone. So you need to save this for when you need a really big out.

However, I was thinking more along the rules. Should he do that move and the ball get past F3 for whatever reason and it goes out of play it's two bases for the runner instead of one.

Big difference, and all the more reason for the firstbaseman to be in the loop (besides saving his grill). Lefthanders get to have the fun with pickoff moves.
