Host school keeps 15% of Net Profit

Woodstock, thanks for the work. Had never seen on KHSAA that Mason took that 15%. Can you tell me where that is on the reports? Always looked like the itemized expenses compared very fairly to the other regions and then there was a straight line even 1/8 share for every participant.

 

Other regions have other methodologies, like participants get a game share based on #games they played in. In the 9th, NKU has a $60,000 rental fee while the teams are guaranteed a minimum payout to justify that. 10th Region payouts at the Fieldhouse have always compared very favorably to the best in Ky, except the two years the 40th has exercised its right to host at Montgomery Co.

 

In this case, exercising one's rights is costing others dearly.

Woodstock, thanks in advance, found it on itemized Part D as standard allowance at all regions unless voted otherwise by participants. Seems fair but these old eyes had overlooked it the past.

Seems the "right to host" isn't what's best for the region or the 40th.

 

If this years 10th with the parity that is, was at the Fieldhouse, I'd be at every game. However, living in NKY, I'm just not making that drive all 4 nights. Looks like I'll spend a night or 2 in Henry County or at NKU

Is there a required seating capacity to host a regional tournament? I saw where the girls regional is at Campbell County Middle School this year. Why can't the boys host there?

It's a good sized gym, but still too small to host a boys regional.

CCMS is too small in my opinion to host a boys regional tournament.

I was at the 2010 region finals. If you were there you can see why they made 50,000 dollars.

This issue NEVER comes up in the 8th. I wonder why?

I'm not sure the 8th has a gym within their geographic area that really fits the bill. I will say that much like mason, Henry cnty gym has seen its hay day

There really isn't a comparable gym in the 8th to Montgomery Co. There are a lot of gyms that seat in the 2-3K range, though, so the girls regional rotation is pretty big.

 

Plus, Henry Co doesnt have the program history that Mason Co has. Henry Co, while a competitive program most years, isn't always in the regional tournament and rarely is a contender to win it, so the rest of the region doesn't have a panic attack about them hosting.

So you and others say location plays a huge factor into how many nights you go to games, does that mean you put a gym the size of Bracken's or Campbell's in The Fieldhouse location and you're there every night? Do you put The Fieldhouse in Mt. Sterling or Winchester and no one still goes as much? Just wondering. Am figuring Mt.Sterling could have put Rupp there and no one from Northern Ky. to Mason would be happy(I reside in Bracken County and liked going to NKU when it was there, Mason when it is there and Mt. Sterling when it is there), they all are good hosts.

I am not driving that far to watch a tournament through the week. Now if they had the Saturday format id definitely spend the day up there.

Is Clark co going to build a new gym at their new high school?
