Casey County 74 Pulaski County 64 (47th district semi-finals)

Yes, coach Stallworth over the past 3 years has found a way to get these guys amped for the final post season push. I'm not going to lie, it has been tough watching this team lose some of the games they have lost this season, and know that they were the better team. However, this is the only part of the season that really counts anyway, so to be 3 for 3 is justifying! I also have to give credit to the junior class with Smith, Miller, and Hayes. These 3 have played together all their lives, and have been a large part in making the past few years a success.

That's the crazy thing about Kentucky high school basketball...the only thing that really matters is winning a game at the district tournament.

I wonder if coach Voight will survive this. Already been a lot of talk thru out the year.

Sounds like he had a ton of adversity with 3/5ths of his starting 5 being sick or injured.

I wondered the same thing. I feel like the mid-season transfer situation probably didn't do him or his team any favors.

Probably didn"t help. A lot of folks I talk to hate his old school ways and the style he plays too.

Very disappointing end to the Pulaski season. Losing district for the 2nd time in the past 10 years is unacceptable with this roster. They're better than that. The AD needs to reevaluate this situation in my opinion.

When was the last time Pulaski County hosted the region tournament and wasn't in it?

I am an outsider to this region but it seems the Pulaski school system tends to always churn out Middle School teams that compete well or win State tournaments. What happens to these kids as they move on to the HS game? Like I said, I may need some enlightenment but there are many times I peruse the KBA state middle school tourney results and Pulaski seemed to always be in the mix with great teams.

Great question...I would guess it's been many years since that happened.

They have a good amount of success in high school. Southwestern and Pulaski County are normally mainstays in the region tournament. Somerset has a good tradition and while they have seen better days they seem to end up losing kids to Southwestern or Pulaski County when they get to high school.

So the Pulaski Middle School system feeds all 3 schools?

Congrats to Casey County and Coach Stallworth for getting the most out of his team at the right time. Casey County and Rockcastle County are two teams folks will not want to see in the region tournament.

Based on the scores of their games against Mercer County, I'm sure Mercer would gladly see either team in the first round.

Most often these are the same kids that win the middle school state football game every year. They get to HS, and choose football, or so it seems.

I have to disagree with this comment. Somerset currently has 3 players who played middle school ball at Pulaski. Had 5, but 2 transferred back to Pulaski this season.

So the Pulaski Middle School system feeds all 3 schools?

Northern Pulaski --> Pulaski County

Southern Pulaski --> Southwestern

Meece --> Somerset
