Boyle Co./Harrison Co. game moved.

Featured Replies

Due to field conditions at Boyle Co.,the game between Boyle Co. and Harrison Co. which is the first game of season Aug.18 has been moved to Harrison Co.

Can any of you Harrison Co. fans tell us Boyle fans, how to get there?

What are the conditions of the field? Is it really dry or did they install something new?

They just need more time to let the grass grow.

Not sure the best way for you to get to Lexington, but from there, the best way is to get on US 27 North from Lex.; about 30 minutes or so from Lex. to Cynthiana. Go through Paris, use the by-pass there, when you get into Cynthiana, take a right at Walmart, stay on that road (street), cross a bridge over the river and go straight at the stop sign. Next stop sign, take a left and stay on that road as it eventually winds up a hill to the left. At the top of that hill, you will see the high school on your right. Football field is behind the high school.

The Boyle County field is an embarrassment to the school imo. They have had trouble for several years now trying to improve their field conditions. Lack of adequate drainage has been a major factor behind the problems. The Ads field on the other hand is a beautiful sight to behold.:D;)

There is never any excuse to move your opening game becaues the grass won't grow. I'll let you in on a secret - IT AIN'T GOING GROW - come up with a better plan!!!!!! It is an embarrassment to the school and to these kids. It's a good thing these kids (over the years) have played themselves into 5 state championships and 1 runner up or I have the feeling they'd make them play out in the middle of Hwy 127. These kids deserve way better than this school system is affording them. Look around this school and you'll see lush green grass everywhere but on this football field. They knew in December of 2005 that there would be a football game there in August so they can't use "we didn't know" as an excuse. I have heard all I want to here about all the experts they have out there looking at the field conditions and their plans - IT AIN'T WORKING!!!! I think it's a slap in the face of these kids and they should either need to find someone to fix it or move the field to another location.

RebelK,............. honey,................. tell us how you really feel!! It's kind a bad to have your home opener played somewhere else. Especially since all their fans had made plans to be there and everything.

:thumb: :thumb: Perhaps it will have grass growing on it by at least Sept. 29th;)

Yes but compared to what it looked like in the 70's and 80's it is "immaculate." :D

We both know very well what the field looked like then and it truly doesn't look much better than that now:D

Boyle's field now doesn't come close to what it was in the 70's. I can remember rolling the field (a hand pushed very heavy roller) after a loss to Russell County in the mud. There was no Bermuda grass back than on our field, just weeds and bluegrass. Yes Boyle has problems, but right now their field is better than most of the teams they played last season.

First Coach Smith leaves and now field problems. I am not saying that is fire but it sure is smoke. If I was a Boyle County fan I would be on red alert.

I am not the least bit worried about the Boyle program right now. There was a couple of place that didn't come back this season, so Boyle hired a guy to come in and re-due some places. This summer has not been the best of seasons for growing grass. Everyting will be just fine when it counts later on this fall. The reason the game was moved was because they just wanted two more weeks for the grass to grow before playing on it. They want the field in great shape for the playoffs. (Boyle could have home field through out this season). I think Boyle made the right decision, and is looking at the big picture rather than 1 home game.

Just came from the scrimmage. It was called due to the weather. I thought the field looked pretty good (the scrimmage was on the practice field) but according to my little "expert" there are places in the field that are very rough. I don't want anyone to misunderstand me and think that I am in anyway putting out team down but the field has never been in very good shape and I've looked at it for close to 30 years. What Rebel says is correct when he says that it looks better than it did when he played but that really isn't saying a lot. It doesn't bother me that we won't play our first game at home, cause MrRk will now have a good excuse to take me out to dinner, but something does have to been done about the field.
