SEC will review Humphries technical foul

Featured Replies

What's wrong with people discussing a questionable call at a critical point in a big game. Doesn't seem that UK fans on this site are blaming the cheating, half blind, referee for the loss. ?

I will say that Briscoe's ball did bounce way higher if I remember correctly.

Probably reviewing..............................the "common sense" rule.......

I dont understand? What is there to review?

Nothing, it's a done deal. Move on to prepare for 'Bama. :banghead:

I dont think you get my point, what was there to review in the first place, seems like the right call to me.

Based on my understanding of the rule and the reporting that has been done over the last 24 hours, there are specific parameters that are outlined for calling a technical foul.

I think the review can clarify the grey area that can come with "common sense" rulings. Where does referee discretion begin and letter of the law end. If this scenario is posed again, what are the options for the ref?

I willing to bet the SEC will side with the official.

As well they should.

Whats wrong with the call. The official ask for the basketball, he clearly decides to spike it into the floor. He earned his T. Call was right.

The fact that reporters and analysts have spoken to referees and those referees have said that they would have ruled differently means that there is grey area. The review is less about the call that was made, since it will not be reversed, as much as it is about providing clarification for referees should a situation like this present itself going forward.

No need to review anything. We already know that Pat Adams SUCKS

In every level of basketball from 2 yr old diaper leagues to college its always a T when a player spikes the ball into the floor. Why should it be different because a UK player did it?

UK deserved to loose that game yesterday, plain and simple.

The kid was celebrating in an American way..I guess..cause I'm old school I don't understand some of this so called macho display. He didn't curse, yell at an official, call him a four letter word. He knew he screwed up as soon as the official said something to him, he owned up to it after the game. Coach Cal owned up to it. I didn't read much complaining on here or hearing about it from most UK fans. Also, by reading some of the posts one would think UK had asked to have the call reviewed, I don't think so. Calling these technical fouls during key moments of games when emotions and adrenaline is running at max is getting kind of overdone. First of all, if you have control of the game by doing your job refereeing CONSISTENTLY, questionable calls are not going to happen as often.

Only if spike is unsportsmanlike. According to Rule 10 Section 3 Humphries did nothing wrong.

Considering the spiked ball went into a team bench area, Id call that unsportsmanlike.
