If memory serves me correctly, and if this is the same youngster, an identical thing happened with him earlier in his career. Prior to his freshman season, in August, he was at St. X, playing linebacker. The coaches wished to move him to another position and he chose to leave the team and St. X and attend Trinity. If so, it is apparent that he really wants to play linebacker and it is a deal breaker if he is not at that position.

I wish the young man the best of luck. While a good player, it seems his interests may be better served in a different system. Good luck to him!

As to the preview....

Sounds like another great year ahead for the Rocks!

I beg to differ with you on this. You may want to catch up some yourself on pebble football. Andy played as a freshman in 2004, did not play as a sophomore in 2005, and he is now a junior in 2006. Therefore he has only been out of football for one year and not two.

Okay, one year, but why do you think Jody would talk about someone who didn't even play last year? And after this year, it will be two.

As for Taugher, X was the first school to asked Larry to change positions and he left their school. I hope he does well with his third school.

I had heard that after the pebbles won the title last year, Lynch was having a lot of remorseful second thoughts about not playing and would be back on the gridiron this year. He is an outstanding athlete, and he would definitely be a major asset if he did return to play. But if you say he is not there, then I guess he is not there.

I was not aware that he had left Trinity. Are you allowed to say where he is attending this year? Wherever it is, I wish him good luck.

I'm really surprised that no one, including Jody, has mentioned anything about Andy Lynch returning to football after deciding to concentrate on solely basketball in his sophomore year.

It's probably because he is not out for the team.

I think he is at Desales now.

Last I heard, he was crossing to the sunny side and going to Jeff. Word was Beatty would not release him so he would not have been able to play at any school in Louisville.

Word on the street is that after being asked to move to another position by Beatty, he decided to leave the team. He was an outstanding linebacker, and I'm sure his loss will be sorely felt.

First, Coach Beatty doesn't coach defense, linebackers or otherwise. Second, Larry wasn't "asked" he was moved to a position where he was more suited in the eyes of the defensive staff. Larry now lives in Jeffersonville Indiana and attends school there where he hopes to play football. Related? I don't know. I wish him luck in his new home. Lets all remember the facts. Larry played sparingly in the playoffs last year and played only a few plays in the state game. He made one tackle in the state game (it was a good one though, causing and recovering a fumble on the play).

Please provide a link to the KHSAA rule that allows a coach to "release" a player so he may circumvent transfer rules. I don't believe one exists. A student must have a bona fide change of address to be allowed to compete in sports without sitting out, plain and simple. Please don't spead rumors based on nothing.

Larry is a good kid and comes from a good family. Again, the Coaching staff wished him well and the best of luck at his other school, where ever that may be?

End of story!!! Give him a break.

Not rumors. Not based on 'nothing', trust me. You said the same thing, he now is going to Jeff. and hopes to play football. Let's leave it at that! Chill.

You clearly posted a rumor about some "release" issue. I'm still waiting for an explanation of that rule. So you are telling me that its up to the coach of the school that a kid is departing if he can play without penalty? Are you sure about that? Or did you base that on... nothing. You also posted that he couldn't play at local schools so he had to transfer to Jeff. Are you sure about that? What schools?

Not rumors? Not hardly.

True...and true.

I have heard of this "release" rule that we are talking about. Specifically with some kids involved between Trinity and X.
