Bishop Brossart 54 Paris 50 (10th Region Class A)

Too many Paris perimeter shots and too much Jackson Crawford.

Mustangs outplayed the Hounds for about 30 minutes, and then they didn't exactly put on a clinic the last two minutes. Missed free throws, turnovers, and Paris really getting after it turned a 10-12 point lead into a 2 point lead. Paris has the ball down 52-50 with 13 seconds left...Ashford penetrates and tries to drop it off to Garrard, who fumbles it around and eventually gets tied up with 4.1 left. Alternate possession gives it to Brossart who seals it with 2 FT's.

Congratulations to Brossart. They were clearly the better team tonight.

Tough loss for Paris, but the Hounds have to regroup. Brooks' team is deep and talented.

Failed to add shove in back on Crawford..

He definitely got shoved in the back, but did you forget about then play in the first quarter that Kobe Garrard was going one on one with Crawford on the base line, turned around and shot it, got smacked in the face and no call right in front of the ref. Very big play. Brossart rebounded and Garrard smacks at the ball at gets called for his second foul. Changes the whole structure of the greyhounds game. The original calls that I thought were ridiculous were basketball 101 calls that the refs should not have missed.

I thought the officiating left a lot to be desired, but it was bad for both teams.

Brossart out coached the Hounds tonite...never do I leave my best player w 3 3rd qtr fouls on the opposing teams best player. Garrard prolly played a total of 12 mins tonite...no adjustments were made on the back door plays that Brossart ran to perfection w the same kids. It's always easy to blame refs when things don't go your way but that's not the case here...lack of preparation and in game adjustments hurt the Hounds tonite. As I read there threads everyone states Paris has athletes but we continue to get beat by teams that can't touch the backboard...if we don't sharpen up on film study and preparation we will continue to get the same results. #ParisPride

Welcome to another normal day in 10th region bball.

It seemed like a fumble in football.

If Garrard catches the pass clean, Paris ties it up. There was so much traffic, I couldn't see if the pass was too high, low, thrown too hard, deflected, or if he just didn't catch it.

Nice win Mustangs! Coach Code did a great job dictating tempo and running a structured offense. Paris was cold from the outside in the first half and appeared to be defeated during warm ups at the start of the second. The difference in the game was rebounding and point guard play for Brossart. Paris did not get a lot of second shots and Brossart's point guard was able to handle the Pressure Paris applied.

Paris took too many 3s because they're lazy

Anyone can pump up 3s..... working for a good shot against a "Code" defense will wear you out

Congrats Mustangs on a wonderful victory! Now I will make a comment that might anger my Brossart friends. Victories over Holy Cross, Campbell Co., and now Paris all have 4th quarter performances that turned substantial leads into narrow wins. What is up with 4th qtr free throws? Going to have to hit them in Frankfort! Go Mustangs, make the 10th recognized for how strong we are.

You will never enrage your Brossart friends while speaking the truth.

Up 10 points over Campbell County and then hanging on for a 2 point win.

Tonight up 48-35 with 3:24 to go in the game, and I'm daring to think blowout, when Paris hits six consecutive free-throws and a pair of threes to cut the Stangs lead to 52-50 with :14 to go in the game, when Joey Hickman ends the insanity with a pair of free-throws to sock it away and punch our tickets back to Frankfort.

Hats off to Paris for not giving up. You've given me even more grey hair.

The big difference in the game was that one team had Jackson Crawford and the other one didn't. 23 points (while leaving others on the floor) and 15 rebounds - Nuff Said!!!

While this was our 12th 10th Region "A" championship in 14 years, this was a very big accomplishment for this group who were winning their first ever. I'm really happy for them.

Mustangs play the Region 1 "A" Champ at 8pm on Thursday night, January 28th in the Frankfort Civic Center.

Code's defenses have always been hard to penetrate, and with Paris being very weak from 3-land (only 28% for the year) it was a perfect game plan blend that was going to be distasteful for the Hounds.

Until Paris can sit down and beat a team in a grind it out slugfest I'm going to be skeptical of them winning 3 in a row in March.

When jumpers were falling against Madison Central they looked great. When they stopped falling they kept chucking them up and Madison started grinding out buckets, that got easier with each possession.

BB just provided a nice blueprint on how to beat Paris.

Congrats to the 'Stangs and best of luck in Frankfort.

A few things I'll say about Brossart. (I wasn't at this game.)

I imagine that all of the All A championships are special to Brossart. I'd think this would be one of the most satisfying. For the most part Brossart doesn't pass the eye test. They don't look like much when you first see them. Not particuarly big, not particuarly fast. If my memory is right, the senior and junior class did not fair well their freshman year and it looked like lean times coming to the Mustangs.

Brossart does what Brossart does. They run their sets patiently. They play really good defense. Secure the ball and move forward. Its a testament to the coaches and the kids.

Congratulations Brossart.

Don't be satisfied.

Keep playing it the right way.

^This, sometimes I think Paris has too much talent, and everyone wants to play the "ME" game. Paris goes how Garrard goes, if he gets in foul trouble, agitated, they struggle.
