Bishop Brossart 54 Paris 50 (10th Region Class A)

Featured Replies

^This, sometimes I think Paris has too much talent, and everyone wants to play the "ME" game. Paris goes how Garrard goes, if he gets in foul trouble, agitated, they struggle.

I agree, there's a lot of kids with similar size and skill sets. That's hard to find minutes in a situation like that for everyone.

The deepest team in paris for years. They may have the deepest bench in 10th region

I'm glad I played in the 90's before all these forums came along. I think this is a great site, except for one problem. People calling out 15-18 year old kids. It's why I can't stand ESPN, over half of these shows are opinion based comments from people who never picked up a ball or where so bad they just bag on today's players. Like I said,it's a very small percentage of people that say these things.

One other question: Who is recruiting the Crawford kid? Was impressed with his footwork, how strong he was with ball and attacking the basket. I assume he has good range, he had a nice stroke on his free throws. He also seemed to have a good attitude. I only saw him complain once and that was the breakaway where he got hacked and body checked. Clearly a foul. The no call on the walk and timeout granted when the ball wasn't even in BB possession were calls no varsity official should miss.

Stop bagging on the officials! They miss calls both ways in every game. Enough is enough! Nothing worse than people on these sites always calling them out! Oh how I long for the 1990s

My apologies for being hypocritical.

My apologies for being hypocritical.

Not even a 10th region fan, but two things:

Congratulations to Brossart

It's ALWAYS the officials fault.

I'll have to disgree with that statement. I can't imagine it always being the officials fault. You obviously aren't being facetious because that would only prove my point. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, though.

Defense wins championships and Coach Code and his troops proved it yet once again. Congrats to the Mustang players and coaches. Big night from Jackson Crawford 23 & 14. Heck of a nights work right there. Good Luck in Frankfort!

Coach Brooks is one of the best in the business. I really can't add much to what has already been said. Too many 3's late for Paris but still had a chance at the end of the game. The last play was crazy. After forcing a turn over Paris has the ball down 52-50 Ashford I think drove the lane and instead of taking the shot tried to rifle a pass to Garrard that hit him in the chest and I thought would be out of bounds but a Paris player saved it and tried to pass it to Kobe again and lost it out of bounds. Then a baseball pass for Brossart resulting in two free throws for Brossart leading to a final of 54-50

One thing that has confused me when reading these thread about the greyhounds. Many say that they aren't disciplined and lack knowledge of the game, just pure athletes. So if Paris' coach is one of the best in the business, why aren't things changing? It's not like they have kids that are ineligible or just dummies. And it's not like this is a set of brand new kids coming into the system. There has been time for teaching. They kids can't do what they have not been taught. What credentials gave him the title of being one of the best in the business? Just curious as to what I'm missing.

I believe and I think it's been sort of mentioned on an earlier thread, that there is some animosity between players. There is a group of Paris Players that play both Football and Basketball(Older Guys), there is also a group that plays just Basketball(Younger).

Most Single A schools (including us most years) don't have that luxury. I don't think that's a Coach Brooks problem. It doesn't help when you have court side fans(not all) telling players "to take him" or go one on one, or jack up 3's every time. That's a lack of self discipline on the players part.

It also doesn't help that a Senior tweets out "The ball should of been in my hands last night"

I 100% believe Coach Brooks knows what he is doing. Just some attitudes need checked at the front door.

That's his job to check them, that's why they call him the COACH. What does the ones playing both sports have to do with it? Those older guys that you are speaking of are the core of the team. If you can't control YOUR team, get off the side line.

Let me preface the following with the fact that I was NOT at this game.

A common misconception amongst fans regarding TOs is that the location of the ball when the TO was requested is where the ball was when the whistle blew. Incorrect.

Player A1 on the ground with the ball in possession. Coach A requests TO. Ball is dislodged from A1's possession. Whistle blows. Can't be allowed, right?

It can be. The official has to base it on the ball location/possession at the TIME OF THE REQUEST. There is always lag time from granting the TO and the whistle.

Let us not forget that the best angle is ALWAYS from the stands, rather than near the play…..

Too many Paris perimeter shots and too much Jackson Crawford.

Mustangs outplayed the Hounds for about 30 minutes, and then they didn't exactly put on a clinic the last two minutes. Missed free throws, turnovers, and Paris really getting after it turned a 10-12 point lead into a 2 point lead. Paris has the ball down 52-50 with 13 seconds left...Ashford penetrates and tries to drop it off to Garrard, who fumbles it around and eventually gets tied up with 4.1 left. Alternate possession gives it to Brossart who seals it with 2 FT's.

Congratulations to Brossart. They were clearly the better team tonight.

Tough loss for Paris, but the Hounds have to regroup. Brooks' team is deep and talented.

I'm looking forward to your next rankings! It's been a good few weeks for the Mustangs. J. Crawford has been playing at a very high level.

Sorry I missed this one. It would have been a fun game to do. Very happy for the Brossart players and staff. They are very underrated and keep proving that when you buy into a system and play as a team you can win some games that others don't think you should. Gongrats boys! Go get 'em down state,

Congratulations to Brossart even though I hate to see the same team win every year. Mike Code and these kids deserve it. They don't pass the eye test but good defense can win any game. And is it too late to do this: image.jpeg
