Why is Hazard taking so long to make a HC pick?

The job was not posted on the KDE webpage until July 10th. I think that it must be advertised for 30 days unless they decide to hire from within.

At this time of the year, I believe Hazard could easily get a waiver of that requirement.

They do not have to wait 30 days to start interviewing.

Hazard will not have any problems attracting qualified candidates, with their tradition and what they have coming back. But many good candidates have already made their plans for the upcoming year, and have signed contracts with schools. I mean, most schools begin the school year next week. That may narrow Hazard's choices down a little. But they will still find a qualified person.

The KHSAA's open gym rules does have a lot of loopholes.

How about the name Jon Bentley has the next coach of Hazard, I seen him at a lot of their games last year.

I've heard a name that I am not familiar with, Lewis Morris.

If I'm not mistaken Lewis Morris coached Hazard once before.

 

If it's the same guy, he played his high school ball for one of the best teams Cumberland ever had...much better than the one that made it to the state tournament a few years ago. He played with another great player, Garrett Gregory, who went on to star for Cumberland College. I believe their really good team was 1983 when he was a sophomore. But they didn't get out of the 13th that year. I forget who beat them, but I do remember it was a huge upset and caught everyone off guard. Morris was a great shooter, and was about 6'5. I don't recall where he played his college ball.
