January 10, 201610 yr James Harrison said by rule, the Burfict hit is a penalty but doesn't think it should have been. He said there is no time to make that quick of decision.
January 10, 201610 yr I'm 52 so I'm way past getting upset when my team loses especially when you're used to it. I do feel bad for my 28-yr-old son who was just 3 when the Bengals last one. He has never watched his team that he is extremely passionate about and loyal to win a playoff game. I'll remind him tomorrow of the big picture . Players fumble. Happens. However, when you're a punk in college like Hill and when you're a punk like Burfict (so much so that you can't get drafted despite first round talent) and you're Pacman then you get nothing from me other than "you're a punk - you deserve it." 32,55,and 24 are punks. Always will be. Stripes do not change (pun intended). I was going to post something very similar Clyde. I told my wife at the end of the game that the three punks on the team, Hill, Burfict and Pacman were the goats. It looked like the Bengals had finally broken through and those three clowns would not let them. I really like the Bengals but if they are all back next year, it will be hard to root for that team...and that is a shame because they have a bunch of good guys on the team too. And by the way, the Bengals 2 point conversion play was one of the worst looking plays I have seen in a long time...just stupid...
January 10, 201610 yr Let me ask this question and it is hypothetical...if Burfict made the same hit as the Steelers player did on Bernard to knock him out of the game do you think it would have been called a penalty? He'll get fined ... Shazier, the player that put that hit on Bernard. Yes, I think if it were Burfict it would have been a penalty and it should have been a penalty. The NFL has got to get this figured out. The penalty that was called on the Bengals on the pass play over the middle for the hit - that was the least of the bad hits in this game and it got flagged. DB's are going to be forced to start taking out knees the way the league is throwing flags.
January 10, 201610 yr How are players paid in the post-season? Did the Bengals players lose money by losing this game? I think ever player made $25k for this round.
January 10, 201610 yr Author We did make the record books Cincy is the first team in NFL history to lose in the first round of the playoffs in 5 straight seasons.
January 10, 201610 yr I guarantee you this guy is somewhere in Louisiana laughing at Hill for his fumble. Video of fight involving LSU RB Jeremy Hill
January 10, 201610 yr We did make the record books Cincy is the first team in NFL history to lose in the first round of the playoffs in 5 straight seasons. And have the longest playoff losing streak at 8.

Had the dumb coaching staff told him to simply go down on contact instead of trying to get extra yards this discussion would have probably been a mute issue. No leadership whatsoever with Marvin in charge.
January 10, 201610 yr As to comments on the game, the Steelers proved again tonight that the most overvalued position in the NFL is running back. There are 200+ running backs that could have done what Pittsburgh's backs did tonight. If you can find a special back like an Adrian Peterson, yeah pay him. Otherwise, don't overpay for a running back.
January 10, 201610 yr I think ever player made $25k for this round. I think the division winning teams get $25k and the wild card teams get $23k.

If it is called, it should automatically go to a booth review. Those plays happen so fast, the human eye simply cannot tell for sure whether the hit was to the neck/head or below...especially when the receivers head snaps back.

If this play had been reviewed it wouldn't have taken long to confirm the call on the field. He was defenseless by NFL standards.

January 10, 201610 yr The Bungle in the Jungle Steelers again use the two C's - Composure and Clutch. Big Ben takes hit from Burfict but comes in to lead winning drive, as all Cincy knew he would! I call this one "Cincy-sational!" Steelers just find a way to win even when they don't play well. They say some quarterbacks play like they have ice water in their veins. That's Big Ben! Some quarterbacks play like they have ice sickles stuck on their fingers. That's AJ McCarron. lol! I think AJ stand for "Awful Job" - lol! He had a 68 qb rating at game's end. I will admit if Dalton played, Steelers would have possibly lost. Bengals defense is really good, but the two penalties on the last drive reflect a lost organization when it comes to winning in the clutch and staying composed. I'm up here at Martino's on Vine getting ready to party all night with the Steelers fans! Great showing tonight at Three Rivers Stadium SouthWest, Steelers fans! As the most famous Bengal Tiger of all time, Tony, once said about the Steelers: "They're Greaaaaaaaaaat!" On to Denver. Sleep well Cincy fans!
