  1. He was actually quite respectful and shook hands with the Holy Cross players, I was impressed. That is why I jokingly asked about over/under for T's, as he seemed totally different than what we had been told. I hope he gets his self together and plays well. He has good talent, but is he coachable? That was my point.
  2. Would love to see the Ninth region go back to Holmes and Conner for the regional. Your points are exactly right!
  3. Thanks for your comments. It's an open forum, broke no rules. Calm down and hit the soccer field.
  4. I'm assuming you heard about what happened after the Holy Cross/Newport game the other night with said player. My reason for asking that.
  5. Agree with most of what you said. Bezold going out hurt Holy Cross, but it's no different than when players get in foul trouble. You have to play through it at times. NewCath did a great job of mixing up defenses, and no one could stop Weyer. He is an awesome player. Holy Cross did battle and made it interesting, but the better team won last night. They are a great representative for the Ninth region and hope they win it all. I also hope Weyer gets a chance to play against Owen County, I think Weyer is Mr Basketball if he can outplay Williams in that one.
  6. This may be your most thoughtful comment I've seen in any of these threads. lol.
  7. I agree with you about that post. NewCath is very good and has a great player in Weyer. Holy Cross is also very good with a great player in Bezold. But NewCath beat Holy Cross fair and square, and I think the Breds could win the Ninth region this March. I thought NewCath's guard play is very good, love their ability to find the open man in traffic. The little point guard really caused Holy Cross problems last night with his passing, and he's a good one for NewCath.
  8. You are right, Bellevue did beat them last year. Don't see that happening this year. Watched Bellevue at the All A the other night and they have a LONG way to go before they can think about beating Highlands this year.
  9. I will go with Highlands. Kevin Listerman is a good coach who has the tough job of getting football players without much basketball practice. Listerman will have lots of time between now and the districts to get a good rotation and chemistry. I like how physical his team plays. If they can hit some fts, Highlands could be a tough team for some of the Ninth region qualifiers in March. Listerman is the consummate winner, his days at CovCath and NKU as a player an example. Now, that said, NewCath should win that district without a doubt. But the Highlands and Newport game in the other bracket could be an intense battle since one of the teams will be finished after the game. Lots on the line in that one.
  10. Yes I do. I'm sure Holy Cross will take their chances with Ludlow or Beechwood to qualify. lol. Meanwhile Holmes and CovCath will play in an elimination game. But that is for another thread.

  12. Since this has become a discussion elsewhere, it needs its own thread. As a Holy Cross fan, I can safely say NewCath is the overwhelming favorite to win the district, but who will be the runner-up? Will it be Highlands, improving each game and gaining momentum. The Birds nearly beat Newport earlier in the season while still getting their football players into basketball shape. Will be it Newport, showing off a good record and fine individual players. The Wildcats held on for dear life against Highlands the last time. The Bluebirds lost by a point. No, I did not include Bellevue or Dayton in here. IMO neither has a real shot at beating the other two. Is it Highlands or Newport getting the trip to the Ninth region tournament as runner-up?
  13. NewCath continues to display how tradition breeds winning year after year. Congrats to the Breds on a great job. I apologize for these other posters getting this thread off track. Weyer vs Williams would be a great one on one matchup next week in the finals if they both get that far. I can not wait until Holy Cross and NewCath possible meet in March, should be another great game. I am pulling for the Breds this week to win the All-A!
  14. That is a small, insignificant accomplishment, I am afraid. But thanks for your input.
  15. Back to the thread, NewCath is a team to watch in March. I think Weyer is the type of player who could lead a team to a big run at the Sweet 16. Just as Bezold could do for Holy Cross is the Tribe can get past NewCath or the other contenders in the Ninth. Will be a lot of fun in March watching some great teams in the Ninth!
  16. Hopefully you can find a ride to the regional. Remember that TANK does not run 24/7. lol!
  17. You do comprehend Holmes and CovCath will meet n a district elimination game, correct? One of them AND Holy Cross will be in the regional.
  18. I have seen Highlands and Newport. Highlands will use a patient game and beat Newport on a neutral court. The last one came down to a one point game and lots of missed chances by Highlands. Highlands, while not over talented, plays a more disciplined style and will prevail when it matters, mark it down.
  19. I realize with your limited knowledge this might be hard to understand, but CovCath and Holmes will be in the same bracket in the district. Holy Cross beat both. So try again.
  20. You are very right with that comment. Campbell Cty thrives in a bad region with a ordinary bunch of players. NewCath, Holy Cross, CovCath would all roll to region title if they played in Tenth. It would not even be good competition. Hope to see NewCath cutting down the nets next week!
  21. The Tenth region is a complete laughingstock, has been since Mason County's kids quit coming out for basketball. Why the better players stopped playing is a mystery. Campbell Cty has one pretty good player and little else. If they were in the Ninth region they would not even get to the regional. Lucky for them the KHSAA bailed them out and placed them in the Tenth with a collection of schools who at times struggle to get THEIR BEST players out for the teams. Maybe camleman can tell us why they do not participate in the Tenth. I have heard why but let us hear from camelman in another thread. lol!
