Yet Another Teacher Being Naughty

Featured Replies

Does it say anywhere how old the student was?

I don't worry about any teacher that is with a student that is of legal age of consent, unless there was something included about a passing grade for the "favors", then I'll be concerned.

As far as getting in trouble with the law, I agree. BUT, even if the student was 18 it seems highly unethical and I would seriously question that person's judgement. Dude doesn't need to be in that environment with that authority any longer if it's true.

Under the law, even if they are 18, or even 19, if it's a student and you work for the school, it's a no no. But personally as long as they are over 16, were nor forced, drugged, or a deal about grades, I will go on and worry about other things in the world.

If it's my daughter however, one would like to think you can send your kid to school without getting special courses of sex Ed from the faculty. Student/teacher is a problem even if the student is older.

Agreed. I just think that if a person is sexually active, it won't only be with a teacher. I am sure that those parents that are concerned about their teen and sex, especially a daughter, would have talked to them many times about it, and less likely for it to happen. JMHO.

Teachers are there to teach. Period. If they are looking for a date, there are plenty of bars, church socials, etc. where they can meet someone. Leave the students alone.

It said unlawful transaction with a minor so under 18

I remember in high school a couple of senior girls came into one class that I had, when I was either a frosh or soph, every day and were flirting with the teacher. They were pretty obvious and clear what they were doing. As far as I know the teacher didn't follow through with any of it.

I was wondering if it was under 16.

But, you would think that with all of these cases that are reported in the media, which seems like at least a few each week, that they would think "that could be me".

If only the 16 year old version of myself had had a Delorean.

Even if the student is 17 or 18, in this instance of being the band director more than likely that student has been around the band director since 8th/9th grade and at band camps, etc....

Regardless if the actions happened at an older age, as I parent I would definitely be questioning how long the band director has had this kind of image of my child in their mind.
