January 5, 201610 yr Pretty sure Mason grabbed at Hield on that late inbound that resulted in the turnover sealing the game. That said, never should have been in that position because I hate coaches taking that pointless timeout there. He definitely wasn't giving him the 3 feet space that is required, and that one's on the ref. His chest and hands were very close to the out of bounds line. That being said, though, Oklahoma found about 10 different unforced ways to give the game away in regulation and the overtimes.
January 5, 201610 yr This one was one of the best college bb games that I have seen, had a little bit of everything. I love that atmosphere at Allen Fieldhouse ... others are as great as well but imo none better. Both Kansas and OK. imo will make a very deep ncaa run. Both are possible if not probable final 4 teams, just too early to call now.
January 5, 201610 yr @big12Refs · Jan 2 Perry Ellis was born in Wichita, in what would eventually become the State of Kansas when admitted to the Union in 1861.
January 5, 201610 yr @KyleTucker_CJ · 9h9 hours ago Kansas better take care of business here. Perry Ellis' eligibility will expire in the fourth overtime.
January 5, 201610 yr That said, never should have been in that position because I hate coaches taking that pointless timeout there. That was the only bad part of the game. Coaches making sure they use all of their timeouts down the stretch. Each OT you get two more, so in effect, when you take the final 5 minutes of regulation (assuming both teams had timeouts to burn), we had twenty minutes of play with each team having 8 timeouts to use. Seems as if both teams would get in a flow then it was time to draw up a play. The coolest part of the game was the daggers each team were throwing. Both are tremendous shooting teams, but each were shooting above their heads, which was cool to watch. Iowa State could have knocked off OU in Norman on Saturday night. Some exciting high scoring basketball in the Big 12 this season.
January 5, 201610 yr He was telling you to remember that so you can tell your pastor about it. As a UK fan, I promise...I won't forget.
January 5, 201610 yr He definitely wasn't giving him the 3 feet space that is required, and that one's on the ref. . From the "college rules sometimes differ from high school rules" files. NCAA does not have a 3 foot requirement. Learned that one myself last night. The potential violation I saw was the defender having his hands over the line. That should warrant a delay of game warning and then a T on a subsequent violation.

The 3 ft thing is more of a courtesy, correct? It looked like he was guarding right up on the ball. Seems like the defender always has the advantage in that situation.

January 5, 201610 yr He certainly does if the thrower cannot back up. How far off the line is the inbounder supposed to be? Can they be up to the sideline? Can the inbounder reach out and touch the defender with the ball and draw a violation of some sort?
January 5, 201610 yr I'll take that game over any NBA game now until the rest of time. I am not an NBA hater by any means, I actually love watching the NBA. But that is the purest form of basketball right there. Problem is the games like that happen once every 5-10 years.
January 5, 201610 yr How far off the line is the inbounder supposed to be? Can they be up to the sideline? Can the inbounder reach out and touch the defender with the ball and draw a violation of some sort? Feet cannot touch inbounds. Note: Feet can touch the line as long as the feet do not touch "in bounds." Once the ball crosses the line it is fair to be hit/grabbed by the defender. If the defender reaches over and touches the ball while it's still behind the line it's a T. If the defender touches the thrower it's an intentional foul.
