Duran Jefferson Commits to UK

Featured Replies

If I remember correctly Brandent Englemon was going to go to UK until UK got in trouble with the NCAA. Only then did he backout of his verbal commitment and sign with Michigan. IF UK would have kept their nose clean Brandent would have honored his verbal commitment.

Guess what that's garbage....If you commit than stay committed, don't verbal then change your mind when something better comes along. I can't stand it when kids do that....DON'T VERBAL THEN!!!!!!!!!!

You sure feal strongly about something that isn't very important.

How many 16-17 year olds do you know that can decide what they are going to tommorrow? Not many. Now throw in added pressure to "verbal" with a team as a junior(the new "it" thing in college football), and its no wonder that so many kids back out of their decisions. And for the record, I'm pretty sure it wasn't DJ's idea that he should verbally commit to UK, I'm pretty sure UK wanted him to make a verbal commitment. Heck, I can't even get a 17 year old to verbally commit to cutting my grass once a week.:D

Congrats to DJ. Well deserved, and I've long been an admirer and supporter. Continue to work hard, and do what Coach Trosper asks, as I know you'll read this.

I hope he sticks with his commitment to the Cats because Jefferson seems to have a lot of potential at either WR or DB. Rivals shows him having offers from West Virginia, Cincy, Louisville, and Northwestern along with the Cats...which if true is a pretty good offer list.

Congratualtions to Duran and the Wildcats!!! It's good to see UK get another in-state talent!!! What position are they anticipating him to play at the next level? I assume he will be a DB, but I'd like to hear from somebody closer to the source.....

Duran will most likely play WR but it depends on what they need him for. He is versatile enough to play either position but they'd like to see him gain a little weight and play DB. Maybe safety and some corner in nickle or dime coverages

I'm sure DoggyDawn already knew this but...

DJ's older sister is a student at UL and is in a serious relationship with a Cards footballer. Buchanan maybe?

THEN DON'T VERBAL...........PERIOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You're making a huge deal out of nothing.. If he wants to verbal its his choice... I say get over it..

False.

Michigan had told Brandent they really liked him but didnt have a scholarship offer for him at the time but would possibly have one for him if one of their 5th year senior candidates were not to return on scholarship. So he knew going in he wouldn't know til late January or Feburary whether or not Michigan would offer.

UK offered and it was Guy Morris and staff who offered.

Then Morris left UK for Baylor. So you have a coaching change and a new staff coming in.

The coaching change and the Michigan offer were the two biggest reasons he left, not the pending sanctions.

BE was happy to be going to UK,then Morris left, but Michigan finally had an open scholarship and took a visit and committed to Michigan.

Can't blame the kid for doing that.

Jefferson is a very good athlete, He had a nice game against us last season, very interesting when he drops back to punt.

I like this quote from Duran:

"I want to prove to a lot of people that we still have good kids at Covington Holmes who can help a program. We are not all bad kids and this is not a bad football program," Jefferson said. "I want to show we still have kids that are trying to do well.
