jpa2825 Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 Thought UofL played relatively well. Lewis limited action due to ankle sprain allowed Mitchell to start & shine. Snider bounced back well from a poor performance against UK. Lee was not as prominent as prior games, but made some key plays. Time to praise the bigs. Pitino shortened his bench with Mahmoud, Stockman and Adel playing very limited minutes. (Adel still coming back from injury and lack of playing time, I hope.) Spalding played OK with some dumb plays and some good plays (FR). Johnson played well rebounding and defensively. Still needs to improve offensive game. Onuaku was a stud in the 1st half. Played hard, went and got the ball, rebounded aggressively, had 0 fouls and took the ball to the basket when he had a chance. Settled for some shots drifting away from the bucket in the 2nd half and got some silly fouls but was very good overall. If he can continue to progress, UofL will blossom. My son continually points out that UofL's bigs need to learn the inside/outside game. On the rare occasions when they do get fed the ball inside, they inevitably shoot. They need to learn to kick the ball back out and re-establish better position when they don't have a good shot. Wake Forest looks to be a solid team. Manning is making progress there and the FR Crawford played a whale of a game. Stretch 4 kid for them can bury the baseline 3 which always gives the Cards' 2/3 zone fits. If they make some FTs, this is a nail biter.
TheDeuce Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 Onuaku actually played really well last night. I was pleasantly surprised. Didn't get a lot from Lee, and still got the W, that's good to see. Donovan Mitchell is going to be a vital part of Louisville's team for at least the next two season, kid can absolutely play.

Agreed... My only negative take away was the easy transition buckets WF got thru out the game. Those buckets kept WF hanging around. Take those away and Louisville wins convincingly.
tcjkbt Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 UL had only 7 assists while WF had about 18, if I remember correctly. That is too few for UL. Snyder continues to struggle in both his floor game and shooting. It may be too early to say Mitchell has arrived but the time is getting close. Likewise, Spalding is learning. It may not be too much longer for him, either, although he is not near Mitchell right now. Ray's doing a pretty good job rebounding. Glad to see UL could survive "off" games by Lee and Lewis.
Pura Vida Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 ACC play is gonna be brutal… that was a tough game! Love this part of the season though.
Randy Parker Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 Wake is a lot better than I thought. Mitchell needs a lot more clock. Love his energy.

MentschTrachtGottLacht Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 Wake is a lot better than I thought. Have some quality wins, to be sure. I don't think they'll finish .500 in the ACC, but you can see they are coming together.
Wireman Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 Wake was 3-12 from the free throw line. That's just flat out terrible.
