Is Dalton getting hurt a blessing in disguise for the 2015 Bengals because we will...

Featured Replies

have to address every other area of our team that isn't Super Bowl worthy?

For example, we need to address our power running game and if we get that worked out I like I chances in cold weather once (assuming) Dalton comes back.

Two, we need to address our front four NOT putting pressure on the passer. Big Ben had all day to pass. We have done okay pressuring the passer but more often than not the opposing QB has too much time to throw.

Additionally, we will be forced to address any other areas of concern moving forward.

And as an added bonus we all get to see if AJ is a pro quality QB. He is the QB of a very good NFL football team and there are no excuses for him not to perform beyond inexperience.

So I ask again, is Dalton getting hurt a blessing in disguise for the 2015 Bengals?

One more thing, this also sets up an opportunity for Dalton to be one of the greatest Cincy sports heros of all time.

As long as the Bengals get my money each year it is we.

That may be a new allowance for RP.

No, it's not a blessing. Yes, the other players will have to step up. And yes, I think they're capable of doing so & winning a couple games with AJ at the helm.

Maybe but also maybe a bad thing. I wish Dalton had not got hurt because he has been awesome this year. However I do think McCarron will do well and what worries me is the Bengals could once again have a pretty good rhythm going. Then if Dalton gets cleared right before the playoffs it scares me. As great as he has played I worry about his first game back being in the playoffs after not playing for four weeks and having an injury on this throwing hand on top of that. Plus Dalton is not one of the just gifted qbs, he is a qb who needs a lot of reps and practice and timing to be good. Then when you add the whole monkey on his back about not winning a playoff game, it just makes it a very hard time for him to come back and do well imo.

If he comes back I hope it's for the Ravens game so he gets a game under his belt. If not and McCarron is playing well, then I honestly would like them to stick with McCarron then. Now if McCarron is stinking it up then the choice is easy. There is just a lot of things that go into that would worry me. At the end of the day though if he is healthy for the playoff game the Bengals will start him, but that is just my concern.

I agree 100% with this. Feel the same about my Cards.

Possibly, better that Dalton goes down now for a game or two than in the playoffs. Give AJ more snaps in games, just incase. Give AJ a good win Vs the 49ers and I think he will do well Vs Denver if needed.

Bengals won't blitz. Arizona blitzes on about 60% of the plays. They have to get Ben down, if not, 33-20 loser.

The Bengals style of defense has made them a top 10 defense four of the last 5 years and this year they have been the best scoring defense in the league. Some teams blitz a lot to do well on defense and some teams don't. All that matters is for the majority of games playing good defense, which they have.

For comparison sake even with Arizona blitzing a lot, the Bengals still scored 30 points. Arizona scored only three more on a defense in the Bengals that don't blitz. With the way the NFL is today, when teams play a good offense that offense is usually going to score no matter what style defense you run.

Agree!

I think the blessing is Hue Jackson will have to rethink his offensive play calling and game plans. I think he has become a little too tricky for his own good and the Bengals need to get back their running game.
