Just reading this article made smoke come out my ears. The playoff has to expand, everyone knows it.

It will all come down to money. If they make more money it will be done.

I don't think it needs to expand. The regular season has to mean something.

No reason to expand it. The system has worked really well these first two years.

Can I have a statistician get to work on how many teams have to be included to get UK into the playoffs?

I vote that they keep it at four.

If Oklahoma wins this year, which I expect them too, then in the first 2 years the 4 seed has won it all. I think you all are getting caught up in the fact that it is MUCH better than what we had, but by no means is this system perfect. How could you not want to expand it. More revenue, from more big games. I don't care what the criteria are for 8 teams, I just want 8 teams. Start the season a week early or cut a game out. Play the conference champ games. Have the quarterfinals this weekend or next either would work, then have the semis in the same format we have now with them being bowl games. Then the 4 teams that lose in the quarters will have spots in New Year's Six bowls, just like they doing now. This would in no way ruin the regular season, in fact it would only make it more intriguing because you will have more teams and more fan bases involved every year. There is absolutely zero logic behind keeping it at four. More revenue, more teams, more GREAT FOOTBALL. What is there to not like about 8 teams, I just don't understand.

No conference is going to agree to cut games. That's a lot of revenue.

Four is plenty. It makes it special to make it.

Don't cut games then. Start the season earlier. And why would the conferences care to a cut one of their FCS games. It would do us all a favor if they just cut those games. So making it 8 teams makes it less special somehow? It would be every bit as special to the 8 seed as it would be the 1 seed. Most years there is such little difference between the top 8 teams that any of them could win it. Why are you against more meaningful football games? I don't understand.

So USC, Florida, and UNC were final 4 caliber teams had they won?

They won their half of each league. Go to 8 and there will regularly be 2nd place teams in the tournament. Pass...

4 is the right amount...no matter how many get in there will be fans of teams that just missed getting in wanting it to expand.

When we have 5 or 6 teams with legit complaints with missing the final four then I'll listen to expanding it...as long as there are never automatic qualifiers.

Man I couldn't have imagined what it was like on here when Bama and LSU rematched for the national champ. Or are only the second place SEC teams good enough to be in? Right? Give me a break.
