Paris Mosques searched?

Featured Replies

For goodness sakes, why did they not teach us in History Class that we were invaded by Islamic Extremists in 1915? Must have been afraid the textbook publisher would be attacked. (Heavy Sarcasm)

Did anyone mention Muslims or Islam when talking of 100 years ago? In 1919 it was the Catholics, that some rabble rousers acccused of such things as hiding arms among other things, and it was usually done without warrants.

Invite the government to has free access to one denomination with either no proof of wrong doing or trumped up accusations, then other denominations will soon follow.

This happened about 100 years ago as well, no one will enjoy it if it happens again, and in this day in age.

My statement meant that our churches and religious places of worship were not used to hide extremist and their weapons nor was there a need to search them. This thread just happens to be about Islamic Extremists hence the comment that it did not happen here 100 years ago. Maybe this area was less involved but my church was not searched. If there are weapons like this anywhere, well have at it and search wherever the trail leads.

Further explanation

Are you OK with letting the religion of Peace storing weapons caches in their Mosques?

What I am not OK with is violating the founding principles of the US in a witch hunt. If there is legitimate evidence it's one thing. But not an indiscriminate search of churches, nor homes, nor businesses. We have a system of justice in America, and we have a Constitution. We throw that out and what separates us from those we fear? I'll say it again: The terrorists win, even without violence, when we cease to function within the system of justice and rights afforded Americans.

I doubt anyone is calling for the authorities to search mosques, a church or synagogues without a warrant based on good evidence.

I know I am surely not.

This should not surprise anyone that weapons are stored where Islam is being taught.

There are plenty of places here that have guns stored that have zero connection to Islam. Besides, it's not the guns that are the problem, right??

I would be very scared if our government just started raiding mosques (or any other place) just because. That would really be the start of the "slippery slope" So many like to talk about.

A better question for you to answer would be this: Why would there be guns in a mosque?

And unless they had a reason to search I am not for just going in and searching anyone without cause. It appears the mosques in France raised some suspicion and rightly so. Really looking forward to your answer to the above question.

They could be up to no good, planning to take out a bunch of people in the name of Allah. Or they could be there for protection from the many people who have an irrational fear of Muslims and may wish to do harm to them. Or they could be gun collectors or like to hunt. Is it only Muslims that need to have a specific reason to own guns??

I don't know why the guns were there. And if there was good evidence that they were up to no good, then by all means, let's do something about it and I'm all for the raid. But a Muslim owning guns should be viewed no differently than any other citizen that owns guns.

I have no problem with law abiding Muslim citizens of the USA owning weapons.

There is of course the issue that the weapons seized in this raid are completely legal in the United States, so there would be no cause for a warrant.

As long as they don't own them in a Mosque, or own more than a few.

Has everyone forgotten about the U.S. government's raid in Waco?

Does the name David Koresh come to mind?! Branch Davidians?

What about Warren Jeffs? Yearning for Zion ranch?

I have no problem with the government raiding any type of church or mosque or whatever as long as they have reliable information that a crime is being committed.

Short memories prevail as long as it fits someones agenda.

Are you really OK with the potential here?

....beats the alternative

Short memories prevail as long as it fits someones agenda.

The opposite is just as true. Long memories prevail as long as it fits someone's agenda.
