John Anthony
Baseball contracts are disgusting. A million per outing is the going rate for an ace now. He will earn it the first 2-3 years of the deal.

AverageJoesGym
Not a huge fan of giving out 7 year deals to 30 year old pitchers. I know he's one of the best in the game and he's got great stats at Fenway but those last 2-3 seasons scare me. I hope he does really well and decides to opt out after 3 years. I still look for the Red Sox to add at least another big name pitcher either starter or reliever.

Jumper_Dad
Only major sport without a hard cap...Boston, NY, LA and Chicago teams will always out spend the rest of the league teams year in and year out. There will be a team pop up for a year or two or one of these teams may drop payroll every once in a while, but long term they will always out spend everyone else until there is a cap. John Anthony
Now we know why Johnny Cueto turned down 120M over 6 years from he d-backs. That is low balling a guy of his caliber but it's also fair with his usage. Then again, the players are smart enough to burn the wealthy owners.
