Who will be able to stop Cory Gilbert of Ludlow?

Featured Replies

This kid has all kinds of raw athletic abilty. I highly doubt that when he rushes the quarterback any offensive lineman will be able to stop him. He will put a pop on any receiver that goes across the middle and and has perfect form when he tackles. While he is roaming the field, i'll be suprised if the opposing team runs the ball to his side of the field. I look for him to have a huge season for Ludlow and dominate the All Star game when he plays in that.:thumb:

Whereas your enthusiasm is comendable, if he is that good, there is al kinds of ways to eliminate him from the plays. It happens all the time. A few years ago we had a kid who was outstanding, heads above the rest when it came to getting it done. The rest of the team depend on him every game to set the tone and he did, untill we played a team that designed a D and O to eliminate him on just about every play. Bottom line, he played great, but we still lost..... It happens.

I will never understand fans of teams / players placing these types of unrealistic expectations on a young man. Let's see how this unfolds:

Ludlow has a game where Gilbert is neutralized / handled by a better team / player.

Poster "X" comes on here and quotes your post and says he didn't look very good to me (based on your unrealistic predictions) and he must be underachieving (again, not fair to this KID, but caused by a fan of their own).

You reply by getting defensive, giving us more couldas and shouldas and call Poster "X" a hater.

All the while, the poor kid gets unneccessary criticsm and negative attention because fans can't keep their praise and expectations in check.

I am sure Cory is a great young man and a super player, however, you have set the bar at a place that 99.5% of high school football players couldn't reach. It isn't fair to the young man.

Why not just let him play, have a great season, and then be happy for him and tell everyone about it? Why set him up to fail?

I agree completely with everything you said, but I live in Ludlow and know him and the other players pretty well and Im sure Cory is happy and maybe even wanted this kind of thread about him.

With that said I do agree with you though. I dont think anyone should have made this thread, I know I dont like it when other people of other teams make threads like this. :thumb:

What did he do last year? What year is he? I am always interested in learning about up and coming players, but I do not recall the name from last year.

I doubt he wanted a thread about him like this. Most good football players I know let their game do the talking... they might read this website, but they don't feel the need to get plugs on here from biased fans of their team.

I think underclassmen do, upper classmen don't care as much. Just my opinion.

He will be a senior, and plays linebacker on defense. He had a pretty decent year last year in his first year with actually playing in the games at the Varsity level. So I look for him to have a pretty good year this year now with experience...

I'm just stating the obvious.. If he does get stopped, I'll call it a fluke.:flame: :dancingpa :thumb:
