I don't know if Beechwood has a return for a TD this season. That is very unusual for them. They have the return men that can do it.

 

I think the key to the game is Beechwood's defensive line. If they control the line, Pikeville is in trouble. We won't know till they line up how that is going to work out.

Should be a great game. Pikeville is on par with last years finalist. Like is has been said before, special teams and turnovers will likely decide the game.

I agree with this Pikeville team being similar to the 2011 Hazard team.

 

2014 Pikeville team was good but not better than Williamsburg. I saw both and Williamsburg was 2-3 TDs better.

I think they had a few this year....Newport game comes to mind.

VOR....It seems to be a commen them since the pre season... What was a huge question mark has been answered in every game this year. 13 times a good answer....1 not so good.

The line on both sides of the ball will dictate success. Oversteeet and Hermes will lead the charge with Rowe Benson Lang Sherron and Everett all playing tough and setting the tone. Good luck Tigers.

Pikeville's D is a lot better than just a few weeks ago. If you want to throw on them all night, you better mix in quite a few runs. Pikeville has 22 interceptions on the year.

True. And guess who's been intercepting most of those passes? Soph. QB Wyatt Battaile. He's got the height, speed, quickness, field vision to have done a good job this season. Chattlin Jarrell, Clay Slone, and Mickey McDonald, all have done well at interceptions this season as well. Lol! Beechwood to start passing right out the gate, might not be too bad of a game plan

I kind of have to disagree with this. They've faced 2 what I would call quality (being relative to 1A only) passing teams this year. Hazard averaged 161 yds per game passing, and in the first game against Pikeville, had 114, in the playoff game, 84. Williamsburg came in averaging 143 yds per game passing and had 140, but I believe something like 45 or 50 was on their lone scoring drive when it was already 50-0 against the JV. These two teams both ranked top 10 1A in passing. Were they the level of Roy and Fieger (sp?)? No. But still quality nonetheless.

 

I think Pikeville will surprise some at Bowling Green who haven't seen them play, or maybe think their numbers only reflect playing poor quality opponents. They've got some excellent athletes all over the field. Love this bunch of kids.

Oh I understand, that's why I qualified my statement with "relative to 1A" and that they were not on the level of say, an Alex Roy or the young man from Beechwood. Just pointing out that they WERE capable of passing and passing well, but Pikeville defended the pass very well too.

 

I'm very aware, having watched film, of just how dangerous the Beechwood passing game is. I didn't mean to come across as defensive or slighting them, just pointing out what I think is a sometimes overlooked quality of the Pikeville D.

It's not such how many long returns each teams has, as it is how many long returns have they allowed. That's the scary part for Pikeville.

I was impressed with Pikeville, very solid Class A State Champ. Probably a step below Mayfield, but then again so is everyone.

Think Mayfield in 2015 and 2013 beats them (this team) in a tough hard fought games similar to DeSales and OCath this year.

 

I think they were every bit as good if not better than the Mayfield team who we saw play that day in the 2014 Finals. I still think last year was a bit of a "bad game" for Mayfield though so I am not sure I would say Pikeville was better overall in 2014... at the same time MacNamee has definitely proven Pikeville is a porgram finding some of that old magic they had under Hilliard Howard.

 

Panthers will be a factor for a while... their feeder system is stout and have a nice group of Freshman coming in

Good ole Hillard Howard a man who couldn't beat Mike Yeagle but not to many guys could say that. Sorry I couldn't resist. :lol2::lol2:I was impressed with Pikeville's backs tonight. They ran hard. It just makes you wonder what the outcome would have been if Beechwood would have stopped them on that 3rd and 6 play when they got the big touchdown to tie the game up.

I think this years Pikeville team and last years Williamsburg team would be a great game.. Pikeville had the better running game, but, Williamsburg could throw it all over the field with great WRs and a QB that also beat you with his feet.. I'd give the edge to Williamsburg simply because others saying last years Panther team was better than this years and that team was not as good as Raceland, who was a couple of rungs below that Jacket team..
