I've been a Mayfield Cardinal fan years and have been to many games and have seen the Panthers play. Russellville is not a slouch team as some hav made it sound. Myers does an outstanding job with them. I do agree that Beechwood has the advantage and is the better all around ball club on paper, but if any of the BW players come in with the Mentality thinking their going to beat Russellville easily, it will be a long night in WKY. I give the edge to BW, but if the players think like some of the fans, we may be talking about an upset on Saturday Morning.

Not sure it's BW fans that are showing all the over confidence in here. All Tiger fans know a battle is coming, and the team has to play again without one of its best players. Last week was not pretty but a win is a win. Any BW fan that thinks this is going to be easy was not at the game Friday.

Sorry Faux, I wasn't actually referring on Preps, I have just received inquiries about if I was going to the game from some friends of mine from the BW area and there lack of confidence in Russellville ability to play had just shocked me a little because I have seen first had their ability. I hope it's a great game. It better be since I'm driving an hour to watch it lol

Old, with emphasis on old, coaching buddy of mine was at the Louisville Holy Cross game and told me today he thought Beechwood had on turf shoes on the muddy grass field. Could that possibly be right? Wouldn't think that was possible, but if they don't have anything but turf shoes someone better pony-up before Friday. Got to think he was wrong (probably old eyes).

Looking at Russellville's ground game, I found it intimidating to see they have four backs with over 45 carries on the year averaging over 10 (THATs over TEN!!!) yards per carry. That tells me they have some studs up front opening gaping holes! Fiegler's arm and feet will have to be gold for BW to pull this out.

It sure seemed like they had turf shoes on. Muddy fields are not good for quick cutting runners.

Calpreps is usually all over it for the most part. I would love to see Russellville pull this out and see a storied program like themselves make a return trip to the finals for the first time in over 20 years, but I just don't see it.

 

Count me in with what Calpreps says, and it might not even be that close. The Beechies could win this by four or more TD's and it would not surprise me at all.

I will take the NCC game. Good point on comp, but isn't that every back? There are no D1 RBs around here, only 1 or 2 in state. Not their fault there is so much bad football being played. Those two RBs for Russelville look to be as good as anyone BW has played, the Bigbee kid will probably be the best until they run into Pugh if so fortunate to win this one.

I would love for the Calpreps stats to be an all inclusive gaurentee....however those of us who have been watching the Tigers for a few years know this game will be yet another test of "Will". Will Beechwood be able to execute an offensive game plan minus a STUD running back...Will the Beechwood defense make the needed adjustments to limit the Russellville rushing attack. Will Russellville try to throw the ball? In my opinion you can throw comparisions and stats out the window. Who wants it more? Line play will dictate...

And by all accounts a very sloppy field. If throwing the football is difficult, that takes away a very strong part of BW attack with IMO the best throwing QB in 1a, and one of the best in the state. BW has been about the power running game and balance all year. They've lost the power running game to injury, IMO can't afford to lose passing game to weather and poor field conditions. Makes it two one dimensional teams. IMO RVille is a better one D team.

The more touches Slusher gets on offense, the more confident I am in a Beechwood win.

Good one. In response I would say Russellville does not understand the mystique and aura they will be facing from the multi time state champion Beechwood Tigers. Beechwood has more state championships than Mayfield and we all know how Russellville has fared against Mayfield.
