Very impressed with LexCath. Prior to the Knights beating Boyle, it seemed like most(myself included) thought it would come down to Central vs Boyle in that region. At no point this season did I have LexCath coming out on top. I definitely didn't see them going into Louisville and getting the W. They showed some grit and toughness tonight.

 

This was a pretty big night for Lexington high school football. LexCath and Lafayette go on the road and get wins over top programs to win their respective regions.

Could not be prouder of this year's Lexington Catholic team. Coach Perry has done an amazing job with these kids and they've showed up when it mattered to reach this point in the season. For all the knocks on their defense this year, they've surprised me and have risen to the occasion time and again.

Knight defense celebrates an apparent game winning stop on 4th down. But their job was not yet finished as they had to retake the field after a 3 and out for the Knights.

Can anyone who was at the game give us a good recap? This is the one game I wish I could have watched this week. Can't wait to see the stats and hear about how it played out.

 

In the update thread it said LexCath had 4 first half turnovers. Hard to do that against Central and only give up 13 points. Defense must have played their hearts out.

 

How did LexCath score their TD's? Did they run on Central or was their yards mostly through the air? In the pic above Thompson was playing QB at least part of the time. Did Legend Brumbaugh not play QB for Lex Cath or were they playing more than one QB?

 

What about when Central had the ball, did they run on LexCath? We have been hearing about how LexCath was soft vs the run, was that true tonight or is it just bunk?

I forgot to congratulate the Knights. Nice job going in there and beating Central at home. Impressive.

 

I have a lot of respect for both these programs and it sounded like an instant classic. Central has been so good at snatching victory in late heroics, it is an accomplishment to hold on late and keep them off the scoreboard, especially when they have the ball on the 7 yard line. Nice job.

K nights take opening kick off.

Plays using Jaylen Jones and Andy Thompson (QB) and passes to JJ Obogu move the Knights in Central territory.

Knights get a first down on QB draw. But next play QB is stricpped at end of long gain and Knights turnover ball with 9:18 at Central 28.

 

Central gets 1 first down on run play. Knights hold on second series and for Yellowjackets to punt from the Central 48. LexCath muffs the fair catch at their own 23. Central recovers (score still 0-0).

 

Central gets a first down on a 3rd and 10 pass to TE. Two plays later they pound it with good running. (7-0, 5:09).

 

Knights 3 and out on KO. Punt. Central takes it down inside the Knight redzone but is stopped. Attempts FG. Fails. 49 seconds left in 1Q.

 

2Q

Knights take over on Central 20 go 3 and out and punt

 

Central keeps ball for long time with edge runs to outside and passes to TE and RBs on on drag plays that go overneath coverage but is stalled and punts, Knight faircatch at their own 8 yard line with 8:36 left in quarter.

 

Knights drive through combination of running and passing but fumble on Central 30. Central runs back fumble to Knight 35 with 6:43 on clock. Knights get ball back with 4 good stops with 4:35 left.

 

Knight long pass is intercepted near goal line and returned back to Central 10. Central, in a good sustained drive, moves up field and scores just before half but misses XP for 13-0 lead.

LexCath has impressed me the last five or six weeks with their defense.

 

They were questionable at best early this year but it is clear they have found their mojo and are clicking. What they lack in size they make up for in speed and playing team defense instead of getting stuck trying to make plays 1 on 1

 

Knights are for real and have earned their spot and are a legit threat for the title

Very impressed with LC being able to overcome 4 TO and a 13-0 halftime deficit to come back and beat Central. Hard for me to say this as a Boyle fan but I will be pulling for the Knights the rest of the way.

Knights kickoff to Yellowjackets. Jackets start drive at own 20. Jackets get one first down. Florced to punt. Knights take over with 9:12 left on own 41.

 

Knights get two first downs on a Thompson scramble and well hidden screen to Jones. On 3rd down Thompson scrambles for long gain to keep drive alive. 1st down at Central 15. On 3rd and 14 from the 19 Thompson hits Jones who powers in for score. 5:20 in 3rd, 13 - 7.

 

Central takes KO to Knight 20. Knights stop two running plays in the middel and then tackle QB on scramble and finish off with a sack to get red-zone stop. Knights take over on downs on own 20 with 3:14 left.

 

Jaylen Jones run get Knights to own 39. Andy Thompson scramble get Knights another 1st down at 50. Quarter ends with Knights ball on Yellowjacket 25, 3rd and 5 to go.

 

Score 13 to 7 Yellowjackets.

Pass to TE Will Roden gets first down near 15. Pass on 4th down from Thompson to Pedroche gets first down on 5. Pedroche starts at LB on defense and has seen limited action on offense this year.

Andy Thompson scampers in for TD. Morris XP kick gives Knights lead at 9:57 14-13.

 

Central moves ball from their 25 to Knight 28 with a delayed pass to RB. Knights had to chase him down since flow was all to the left and this play went right. Central did great job with TEs and RBs sliiding out underneath play all night. Lots of yards off those plays.

 

Central gets 1st down at 14. Knight defense gets stops inside red zone. FG misses. 6:05 left in 4th. Knights ball at 20 yard line. Knights fail to advance punt deep in own territory. Central gets ball on Knight 35 with around 4 minutes left.

 

Knights stop Yellowjackets with a coverage sack on 4th down and take ball at 3:07. Knights bleed some clock with 2 run plays. Underneath pass is not enough. Knights punt on 4th down again from own 25.

 

Yellowjackets get ball on own 43 with arout 2 minutes left. Central QB scrambles to Knight 43. Jackets toss pas to Knight 30. Central moves chain again to Knight 16. From Knight 7 yard line FG is attempted. Fails Game over.
