SVA 8th lost both this week to Camp Ernst and Conner by sizable margins. Conner vs Camp Ernst would be a very nice matchup. Some very good shooters on both squads. Impressed.

 

SVA plays Highlands and Woodland next week. Hoping for better results.

Ludlow 8th grade remains undefeated with wins over Dayton and RA Jones. They are doing this without one of their best players from the last two seasons, Adriana Lovell is only playing with the JV and Varsity teams. Other girls on this team are getting great experience and having to "step up" to fill her shoes. It is a benefit for all involved.

^This same group of girls at Ludlow had an undefeated season in 7th grade and are continuing their winning ways this season. They are on an impressive run right now... A legit chance to have back to back undefeated years.

The 2 best 8th grade teams in NKY are probably Conner and WV.

THey played on Friday in a game that was scheduled early in the week with Conner winning. These 2 teams have played the last couple of years and a game was not scheduled this year but was added at the last minute. Apparently neither of these teams have had much competition this year. Walton plays mostly an 8th region type schedlue and does not play in the NKYMBL.

Haven't heard WV 8th girls referenced as a top team that age before? Have they beaten any 8th girls teams like Turkeyfoot, Campbell, Highlands or St.Pius that have traditionally been the strong teams that age? who do they have that's good?

 

Also, nothing on here about Campbell County 8th, they have had a top 8th girls team the last few years as 6th and 7th graders. (although one is playing up varsity, unsure on any others playing up). How are this years 6th and 7th Campbell girls teams doing too?

I couldn't tell you the exact number. My understanding is that the girls were moved up to fill the freshman team for sure - some may be dressing JV/Varsity.

 

I am also only speaking about the 8th grade team. I have no knowledge of movement with their other teams.

There is an 8th grade "B" team from Campbell Co playing in the small school division.

I think Twrnhoeffel and Summit View have traditionally had good teams for this age too.

That is too bad. I'm glad some girls get a chance to move up. But I do worry about the state of girls basketball involvement. Hope CC is doing a good job of development with those 8th girls.

Tonight. Pius simply frustrated dominated And put it to them in the second half at Ernst. Wow another Hagen coming to NDA next year. She is nasty in every tough sense of the word in a good way. A completely different player than her sister. Thapar girl was very good after the game was tied at half. As a non Pius person kudos the them for over coming poor officiating and some of the rudest fans I've seen at a middle school game.

Haha, I heard my wife met you tonight, wish I was there but had other kids activities. Nice win for the Panthers and yes we call Camille's type of game "interesting".

8th grade girls Walton Verona 47 Twenhoffel 15

The younger sister of former Ryle great and current XU senior Jenna Crittenden plays 7th grade ball at Gray and is really a nice player. Her running mate in the backcourt (Williams maybe?) is also talented. Nice big girl as well who has a solid game.

 

8th grade has a nice PG as well.
