The problem with that is that she wrote it before the breakup of their relationship. Way before in fact. I don't think their relationship ended until the early 80's or so. I thought all of it was applicable to Warren Beatty. But she says she had some others in mind for the other verses.

November 19, 201510 yr The rumor I've always heard was Mick Jagger was an inspiration. I've heard that as well but if you listen close, he is singing backup.
November 19, 201510 yr I always liked this version better. Who else but LB13 to come up with an obscure 80's hair band cover of "You're So Vain". if he can't find a specific song by an 80's hair band, then it probably never existed.:lol2:
