Source told me that a retired coach from a neighboring county already had a interview

Interesting clue.

Someone told me they have already hired said coach

Just got a text saying they did

Someone told me they have already hired said coach

And who might it be?

Randy Mefford retired Carroll County head coach and AD

That's what I heard too

That's a great hire

Didn't Zach Mefford lead the area in scoring 10+ years ago? Any relation?

The Lady Wildcats are in the most capable hands with Coach Mefford. Whatever chances the team had this season, just got a bit better with Coach Mefford at the helm. Gonna be weird seeing him in blue though.....

Awesome guy! I'm glad Gallatin was quick on the hire! They picked a perfect candidate! Congrats and good luck this season!

Not directly, if any.

Zach is the son of Tim Mefford (former Williamstown head coach, and current assistant at Simon Kenton, I believe)

Randy Mefford has been the head coach of both the boys and girls squads at Carroll County. Had success on both sides while he was there. (I think he switched over to the girls position when his daughter reached that level.) He also has a twin brother, Gran, who was head coach of the Owen County boys for quite a few years (back during the Jason Sharp teams).

I believe Randy (and Gran) played for Carroll County growing up.

I wish him the best of luck. Always thought he was a class act.

Quality hire for Gallatin Co.

Funny how they have kept the reason for the resignation quiet....

Anybody have any details?

Why is it funny? Is that the most important part of the situation?
