Louisville Public/Private situation

Featured Replies

I was wondering how the public schools in Louisville get along with their private counterparts. Anybody have any input as to how these two get along in the 'ville?

Depends on who you ask.

I don't think any public school cares one bit about Desales, CAL, Holy Cross, or KCD.

There is however a fear of the enormity of X and T and the possibility that may build themselves to a level that public schools can not realistically compete with. IF these schools were really pulling the best talents out of all of Jefferson County, this would in fact be the case. Notice I said IF, because the reality is that, with a few exceptions, niether of these schools are exceptionally athletic as would be the case if they were recruiting like so many love to say. Simply look at the D-1 prospects out of these schools and I feel that will make my case.

I think on the private school side there are many who don't have a great deal of respect for the public schools. That doesn't help the relations either.

St.X doenst have that many D-1 recruits year in and out do they? I mean Vic Anderson is goin D-1 but X has had a lot less D-1 players then others schools? Atleast that what I thought.

Niether X or T is ever loaded with D-1 talent. If they recruited Louisville, the way many people like to claim, than they would have many more than they do.

Why would the public schools not like the schools you mentioned above? Those don't come across as football powerhouses to me.

I believe he means that they are indifferent towards those schools as they have not made a mark on the landscape yet.

Correct. DeSales, Holy Cross, KY Country Day, Christian Academy have not achieved a great deal of athletic success so the publics really don't care about them nor do they accuse them of cheating. Christian Academy looks as it may be in the workings of building a successful athletic program. If so, expect them to be part of the T/X suspicion.

Last 31 years X & Rocks have won the 4A football final 21 times.

I forgot to mention, Holy Angeles Academy moved from Old Louisville (South of downtown before getting to UofL) to the East End. Due to this move their enrollment appears to be growing nicely. With the alumni and parental support they receive, if they wanted to start a athletic program, it would probably do very well. So they too will join in the suspicion.

I can't believe I'm reading this. After all the Kentuckiana All-Star's comments over the past year, this is a shock. What changed your mind?

Only speaking for Trinity here... if you were to seriously look at our kids, you would be hard pressed to find stunning athletes. Public schools have MUCH more talent on the field at nearly every position every year.

Now X, that might be a different beast all together. They usually have great talent, just ask 'em.

To answer your question, the atmosphere is charged for another year of animosity. Should be fun.

I don't know who you are confusing me with. I've never said X or T has the best (in collective terms) athletes, because they don't. They have more experianced players than anyone else, but that is a totally different story.

You will have to forgive RunFirst, he gets all "ewe" Rams confused.

Although I think public schools get the better skill position players, I would say that X and T tend to have superior offensive lines. Or, I think that's their best position, consistantly. But I couldn' quote you D-I numbers on the topic. It would just be my guess.

We have better school lunches. :D
