Another Lexington School Is A Baseball Champ

Featured Replies

...........obvious that the home city team has a certain advantage...............

What can the KHSAA do to balance this out ? They sure did throw the boomerang at football. Will the same be done for baseball(somehow), or do they just do that type of thing when Louisville schools are winning?

.......any thoughts ?..........Louisville people , heres your chance to speak up. You know that I am going to take a blistering from our Lexington friends ! It is huge to sleep in your own bed , go to BP at your school , then head to your home towns' minor league stadium for baseball. nothing there is strange or puts you that much in awe, because you've seen it all before.

Sure , some of the BEECH boys were there 2 years ago, but certainly all of the Lex Cath kids have either been there or played there before. yes , game 3 of the tourney, still I think that there is a home field advantage for any Lexington school. Nothing like home sweet home !:argue:

 No kidding, I mean Harrison had homefield advantage in Paducah in 1998 and in Louisville in 1997...

Are you serious? It's a whole hour and 15 minute drive! I could see your argument if it were a 5 hour trip or something but this is kind of silly IMO!

I thought of this earlier myself. It certainly seems that every football season there is someone complaining that the Louisville schools have an edge because they don't have to travel for games.

What's good for the goose is certainly good for the gander.

Remember this come football season.

I personally love the playoffs in Louisville. Unless they were going to be changed to Lexington I see no reason for the football playoffs to move. The only way I would want to see the baseball changed is if it's at the Riverbats stadium. That is part of the dream to play on the big fields! I don't think you'll here any of the kids or coaches complaining about where the game was played. I know when I played baseball and football it was the dream to play the championship on the big field. If we lost there then so be it.

BareRock - The Tigers played at a minor league stadium in the regionals. Using your theory, would that not be considered an advantage for them over the teams they played that didn't do so?

FWIW-I have no problem with the state championship being played in Lexington, I just want everyone to remember this thread when there is the annual call to move the football championships out of Louisville.

Exactly All Tell.........^

The Lexington thing is not that big of a deal. Talent prevails. However, Another private school champ? hmmmmm

Hopefully BareRock you're not forgetting that the 11th region in general the past few years has also been considered one of if not THE best regions in baseball and hardest to get out of. While playing in Lexington might be an advantage, I'd say most of the Lexington success comes more from so much talent in the city. I'd claim Baseball is easily the best high school sport in Lexinton all around.

I wouldn't want the football moved unless it's too Commonwealth. I wouldn't want the baseball moved unless it's to the Riverbats Stadium. Lex/Louisville have the two top facilities in football and baseball. As long as it stays in one of those venues then I'm all for it.
