October 29, 201510 yr Man I hate Joe Buck. Royals nearly have an inning ending double play go for naught, as Hosmer appeared to be pulled off the bag. Initial camera replays from behind were blurry at the best, and it looked like he may have come off the bag. But, after the Royals decide not to protest, they finally show a shot from the front, which gave a different impression. Reynolds and Verducci were both like "hey, wait a minute, that may be worth another look". Buck didn't even consider it, and almost came off condescending saying something like "come on guys, he pulled his foot...we saw it from the back." Idiot.
October 29, 201510 yr Buck did sound like a moron on that play. But Alex Rodriguez is painful to listen to also... north, south, put the pitcher in a box, the smaller the better... what is he talking about? And when Buck or Reynolds asks him a question (a softball question at that) he doesn't even answer it; he just rambles about something else stupid.
October 29, 201510 yr Buck just said Zobrist almost waited too long on the ground ball to get Granderson. Did Buck ever play this game, like even Little League?! Zobrist had Granderson all the way; It was never an issue. Harold Reynolds (very good broadcaster IMO) tried to explain it away nicely but deep down I think Reynolds was thinking, "You fool, you were wrong about the challenge and we gave you a pass... this time I am going to explain the reality of this play."
October 29, 201510 yr Cueto impressive tonight. Just two hits and two walks thru 7. Has given up just one run, that probably shouldn't have happened, if the Royals protest the Hosmer play. He's a completely different pitcher in front of the home crowd it seems.
October 29, 201510 yr Cueto with the first complete game in a World Series since Jack Morris back in '91. Good for him.
October 29, 201510 yr Cueto with the first complete game in a World Series since Jack Morris back in '91. Good for him. This is hard to believe its been 24 years since a starter in the World Series went the distance. Good for Johnny!
October 29, 201510 yr Here's the script: Mets win the next two. Cueto goes on 3 days rest because Volquez is still not ready after the travel to/from his father's funeral. Volquez then wins game 6 in KC, dedicates it to his father, and the Royals win all four WS games that were started by former Reds pitchers.

While a nice idea, I don't think there's any chance Ned Yost has Cueto pitch in New York. He's just a different cat pitching at home versus on the road.
October 29, 201510 yr Agreed, but if Volquez isn't ready and the Royals happen to drop the next two I would be hard pressed to throw my #5 on the road in a pivotal game 5 (especially with all the momentum on the side of the Mets). If KC wins one of the next 2 then Cueto/Volquez will take the mound in games 6/7 I would think.
October 29, 201510 yr 120 pitches and 3 days rest......do not think so. Cueto is Game 6 starter even if Mets take first two in NYC.
October 31, 201510 yr Reason number 167 why I hate Joe Buck...five pitches into the ballgame and he's quoting Mets manager Terry Collins saying that Syndergaard had the "most left in the tank" of all his pitchers, and that's showing. For cryin' out loud Joe, it's the FIRST freakin' inning. So what if the guy is hitting 98 or 99 on the gun? Let's see if he's still doing it in the 7th inning. Heck, let's just see if he's even there in the 7th.
October 31, 201510 yr Joe Buck is horrible...KC strikes right back after going down 2-1 in the first now leading 3-2 in the top of the second with 2 outs and a man on second.
October 31, 201510 yr Just saw the Andrew McCutchen was named the Roberto Clemente Award winner for this year. Good for him.
