Couldn't have said it better myself. I personally don't think Augusta will beat them just because they lost Jason Hinson. If they still had him then yes I would see it happening very easily.

 

I'm not sure Bracken will be used to the Hinson style by the time they play in regular season either. The entire X-Factor in this situation is Jason Hinson.

Brian Miller, hold over from last year, Andy Clarke (St. Patrick) and Zack Irvine son of Coach Don Irvine of Augusta and now Burgin.

I'm curious to learn more about Perkins, the sophomore. I've heard some good things about him.

 

This kid has really improved from what I have seen. Still has work to do but getting much better.

I really think all the talk about the district being so even is a bit out there. Don't get me wrong, on paper they look extremely even. But, when you break them down I still have a hard time seeing Mason County not dominate or even sweep the district. Of course they are young but extremely talented. Bracken County will be extremely improved but they are nothing like the Brent Bach lead teams Coach Hinson has had in the past. Still think the top 2 teams in the district are Mason and Augusta but time will tell

For what it's worth Mason has had all the talent necessary the past 4-5 years but not so great results in the post season. 2 region appearances in the last 4 years with some good talent on those teams. Very sub-par by Mason Co standards wouldn't you say? :idunno:

People seem to forget that the 2 years Augusta beat Mason it not only took heroics from Brent Bach but a choke job on Mason Co's part too. The 1st wasn't much of a choke job, but the 2nd sure as heck was.

 

And if I was Bracken Co I wouldn't want the spotlight either, never had it before so why start now?

It is Sub-Par to the standards at Mason County for sure, but in talking about talent Mason County has been down as a whole the past 4-5 years, with last year being the outlier. It took an extraordinary effort from an excellent player from Augusta to eliminate them both of those years. All I was saying was a lot is going to have to change in order for Bracken County to win the district or beat Mason County. What was the score to the regular season game they played last year?

And let's not forget last season! Was the top dog right alongside Campbell all season come the region tournament they loose in the first round to a district runner up.

Everyone seems to think that over 75% of those kids in a 3a school system are athletes or want to be athletes. When in all reality under 10% of them are. Look at the numbers on the football team for example the team roster keeps getting smaller and smaller but yet the student population keeps getting bigger and bigger.

 

Academics is a much higher priority in the MC school district now than athletics as it should be, most of this is due to the superintendent change and some if it is due to kids being lazy and/or having the wrong attitude, which both are sad situations.

It was a blow out and that was last year and all except Williams is gone. Like comparing apples to oranges. Last yr Bracken Co was a team of Sophmores with one senior and two juniors. Very inexperienced. They had more than one game like that. But all that combined with the regions best coach will only propel those kids to bigger better things. Last seasons debacle with the Jeremy Miles experiment and the schedule those boys played is only gonna make them better and tougher this season. And not to mention they will play Mason at home and if they meet in the district it will also be in Brooksville so they do have that going for them. For what ever reason Mason Co in the past has struggled at times in the igloo.
