Mercer County 42 Taylor County 12

Featured Replies

So, Mercer is first in the district, EJ is second and Taylor is third?

I told People that Mercer would win the District but some questioned it. Mercer had a hard schedule leading up to district play and playing good ball at the right time.

I'm glad Mercer County won district. Good start for Coach B!!!

Didn't hurt that this district is absolutely terrible. But Mercer does appear to have improved.

I am very proud of our kids and coaches. It is tough to buy into a new system when you can't score, move the ball, or win. Our starting defense gave up 3 points in four district games. That is tough to do.

Don't underestimate our kids and staff on how tough it was to keep the wheels on through 0-5. They fought through it and kept walking thru the door everyday.

The district championship is nice. The opportunity to be home for every game in November is great. The life lessons from this season though will probably serve them best of all as adults.

This is a very good point. Starting so slow (against a tough schedule) could easily beat the kids down and it could have spiraled out of control. The success Mercer is having now should help the program grow in the coming years.

This was a big concern and was our focus as a staff, in addition to getting better each day.

Having been close enough to the action I can easily say that outsiders truly have no idea how hard the staff had to work to keep the wheels from falling off after an 0-5 start. I'm very proud of the coaches and team to be able to weather through the storm and pull off the district championship. They earned it and I look forward to following their progress through the rest of the season. I believe they have 7 possible weeks left with this team and I hope they are able to utilize every single week.

I told the Coach B. when he visited our church that I thought that he could win the District. I was at the E. Jess. game and the kid played hard and really enjoyed watch the coaching staff work. Mercer has some great kid and I believe that they are on there way up. The Titans are getting better and may surprise some people before the year is over. With the kids buying into Coach B. and the staff the Titans will get better and will be even better next year.

Coach B is doing good things at Mercer. Lots of excitement and trying to change the culture in the program.

Who's all in Mercer's Region?

I think Knox Central, Wayne County, Rockcastle County and Clay County.

Looks like Mercer has a good shot at playing on the day after Thanksgiving!

I think so too. They lost to Wayne County 21-14 but that was a winnable game. They are a better team playing with more confidence as well as with better understanding of their system. Should be a fun next few weeks. The Dunbar game will be a good game for them right before the playoffs.
