Paris 34 Bishop Brossart 21

Final in a top 10 1A game.

Poor showing of Brossart, better team than that. That muffed punt gave Paris the ball close to the goal line I believe. Then they missed about 6 tackles on the long run for a TD closing the half.

Good season so far for both teams. I don't think many, if anyone thought tonight would be Brossart's first loss at this point of the season. Brossart has come a long way from where it was and the success of the Greyhounds continues.

Hard fought game. Came down to line play. Paris was quicker up front and caused some problems during pass sets. Although they lost, Coach Wiggins has to be proud of the way his team fought. This is a smart team, I'm sure they will learn from it.

Very possible now that Brossart will host Raceland in the first round of the playoffs. Tough prize for your best season ever.

They did fight hard, never gave up. Down 21-7 got a stop their first defensive set and then came with a touchdown. Had the momentum in the second half for a little bit

You're a smart man......doesn't matter who they play. Eventually you have to play the best whether its in the first round or the finals. Although they lost, Brossart got better tonight.

No doubt. I just meant that finishing second in most districts gets you a comfortable first round game. For this district, you get a Top Six team in the state. Brossart will have to lace them up tight, but they've shown they can play some football.

The Paris Greyhounds won the battle of the undefeated and the Class 1-A, District 5 title, bursting the Brossart Mustangs bubble by a 34-21 margin at the friendly confines of Blanton Collier Stadium in Paris..

The Mustangs were contentious through three quarters scoring on our first play from scrimmage on a Craig Pfefferman to T.J. Moore 78 pass-play hook up.

Paris answered on their first possession, marching 62 yards for a 9 yard James Clark touchdown, his first of three on the night, tying things up at 7s and that would be the score after the first twelve minutes.

A dreaded big play touchdown with 2:54 remaing in the half by the Hounds' Koebe Garrard who carried the pigskin 83 yards gave the home team a 14-7 advantage, and then lightning struck again two minutes and thirty seconds later when a Brossart muffed punt set up an encore Paris score, a 3 yard plunge by Garrard, giving his team a 21-7 bulge as the first half came to a conclusion.

The Mustangs defense held after kicking off to Paris to open the second half, and then put together a 57 yard drive, culminated by a 3 yard Frank Ceturlo touchdown, closing the gap to 21-14 and 19 minutes to play in the game. However, it would not be for Brossart on this night as Paris answered with a 62 yard drive of their own, pushing back out to a 28-14 lead when James Clark ran in the ball from five yards out it was lights out for the Stangs.

An early fourth quarter "icing on the cake" 51 yard touchdown by Clark salted this one away at 34-14, followed up by a respectability touchdown on a Pfefferman to Cetrulo 10 yard connection for the 34-21 final score.

Brossart, who defeated Nicholas County head-to-head, earns the District 5, second seed and will host a Friday, November 6th playoff game with the District 6 third seed. The Mustangs will return home next Friday night when we host Berea on Senior Night.

I wanted Paris. I picked Paris and I am glad they won. Congrats and good luck to both of these fine squads next week.

Who will they likely play and will this be played on Campbell County's field?

Brossart scores on first play..78 yard bomb..Paris returns the favor w smash mouth tough running. Seems the physical defensive line of the Hounds proved to b too much for the Mustangs. Brossart showed heart and didn't give up but the Hounds proved to be a bit too much all around.

Campbell County's old field is their home field. That's where it will be played.

At this point it looks like Raceland at Bob Miller Stadium on the campus of Campbell County Middle School on Friday night, November 6th.

I omitted one key statement in my game dissertation - Congratulations to the Paris Greyhounds! They are a group of hard nosed kids, and as Jozey72 stated, their D line (and O line) had the superior push.

The folks are Pair are good people - Eugene "Puck" Puckett and Cary Barr are good friends, and if we couldn't have won it, we are happy that they did. I was proud watching their team's reaction following the game. This was no formality contest for them and they were genuinely happy to beat us. Speaks volumes for just how far we've come in such a short period.
