Male 27 St. Xavier 24

Featured Replies

You turn the ball over 5 times and you win says a lot about you. On the other side if you are a contender and the other team gives it to you 5 times and you can't get the win that's tough. Not a knock on St. X but more of a complement to Male. I think X is a good football team but it just shows you how good Male is To give it away that much and still win IMO.

Chuckle, I said if St. X wanted to be in this it would be up to their defense. Looks like I wasn't too far off.

X has played the big two very tough, with a chance to win both games. Good for them. On the other hand, Male and T gift wrapped the game for X and still managed to win. Hmmm.

Saw the game. Male is very talented at the skill positions, but I was not as impressed with the line. Their receivers and backs took some real hits. Will be hard to beat. Tigers are playing well but I don't know if they can pull it off. Losses to Male, T, and Central all by less than 5. Starting QB missed about 3 series, but backup played well. Looked like ankle.

You won't beat my favorite team doing that!

I am in no way a Male fan at all.

St. X played Male and Trinity both to the end. Ok i have read multiple times Trinity and Male turned it over and gift wrapped it for X. How about you look at it differently. One time I can say luck 2 times im calling it more of a trend. St. X forces turnovers. They were hitting hard. A lot harder than anyone they have faced. Male's top talent spent much of the game on the sidelines due to being banged up. St. X will be in the mix guys. I can say without a doubt Trinity and Male are not looking forward to playing the Tigers again. Just my take. Male Trinity and St. X will be playing each other and it will be a coin toss.....

So St. X caused 3 terrible snaps how?

That's what I was thinking. Trinity's gift wrap was in the form of a long snapper for Trinity who had a terrible night not turn overs. The only way I could see St. X being able to affect T's long snapper would be if X's is a master trash talker at the line of scrimmage.

Looking at this, to beat Male this season may require them to help by beating themselves with turn overs.

You can not look past X gain a total of 142yds against Male, and 145yds against T. X is not going to beat neither team with those offensive numbers. And, I repeat they cannot rely on getting those turnovers and badsnaps. Do you think X gameplanned to get touchdowns off turnovers or the long snapper hike the ball over the punters head?

Here's the interesting part, X only gained barely over 100 yards against T and H and still had an opportunity to win each game. We can talk about turnovers and bad snaps, just we can talk about injuries and field conditions, they're all part of the game. X has been able the hang around against the top 2 teams on their schedule, I too believe that X is a team that neither H or T want to face in the playoffs. Looking forward to the next few weeks as playoff time approaches!

The good thing is it will be settled on the field. I hope both Trinity and Male look at the X game as a walk in the park. According to you guys it will be.

Red zone woes continue to haunt St. X, and will continue to do so as long as they continue to omit Tight Ends from their offensive toolbox. On their first drive of the second half, St. X put together a nice drive with their backup QB. They had a 1st and goal on the 8. They ran Jet Sweep on first down for no gain, ran a play-action pass off of Jet Sweep on 2nd down which was well defended by Male, and ran a naked bootleg on 3rd down which was again well-covered by Male.

There is NO EXCUSE for the continued red zone woes. It is simply not smart to employ TE's in this situation. Male uses TE's in this situation, and so does Trinity. As much as Male and T are proficient at passing the ball, they can pound it from power formations when needed.

The St. X defense played well enough to win. It fact, it outscored the St. X offense 14-10. The lack of offensive production, especially in the red zone, against quality opponents has been an albatross of the Wolford regime. It is simply inexcusable.

I agree with your analysis of TE usage in the redbone. If they don't have a true TE use a FB. Red zone has been an achlies heel for the offense the last 3 years.

We're just a bunch of loudmouths (I am, at least) talking up our teams. I guarantee you none of these three schools will underestimate the other two. The coaches and players are too smart for that.

That said, I'll predict a Trinity win in the re-match. :sssh:

So you honestly believe that if X gets a second shot at T and Male they will be able to get enough turnovers and foolish mistakes to have a chance to win. I see why your holding your hopes on this considering the offense numbers they generated against arguably the best 2 defensive teams in the state. I guess if my team wasn't Good enough to win straight up, I would use whatever bright side I could find from these 2 games to use to prop them up.
