October 16, 201510 yr What a beautiful tribute Doc. As I said in the other thread, I liked and respected your father in working with and under his supervision position. We were friends before ever employed at the same company as well as friends outside the workplace. I am sure that your mother and father are reunited and walking with the Lord and their loved ones that had went on before them. I am also sure that he and our old friend and hunting buddy Mr. J. Lewis are calling turkeys as we speak and ribbing one another on who did or didn't mess up, lol I am sure that you will be reunited with your Dad in time and be on the lake or in the woods once again, just as I look forward to that same reunion with my father one day in Heaven. I guess we all will finally be truly happy one day. God Bless You and yours my friend.....along with your two wonderful sisters and their families.
October 16, 201510 yr I'll try to keep this sub B-ballfan. First thanks to all of you who have offered prayers, thoughts and condolences on our behalf. I lean on my BGP fam way more than any of you will know. My dad, the consummate jarhead was one tough son of a gun. Diagnosed with hepatocellular carcinoma the size of a tennis ball 3 1/2 yrs ago the cancer docs told him it was the largest tumor they'd seen on man with no symptoms ever. Said he should be dead and gave him 6 months. Well he passed that by three years. I won't elaborate on the details but will say how grateful and thoroughly impressed I am with the treatment he received at the Markey cancer ctr at UK. First class. And that up until he chose to leave to go home with hospice. And on that note, I can't say enough about how wonderful hospice is. My wife and I try to give charitably each year and they've won me over. Wonderful top to bottom. I'll end with this; my dad never complained, never griped, not so much as a moan. I hope that if ever faced with a similar situation I face it with the same strength, grace and courage. Remarkable really. I'm so thankful for that blessed hope we have in Christ and the thought of my parents reunited makes me smile. Today, I'm a good father. I'm a good husband. I deserve no real credit, it's simply what I saw played out as an example in my home growing up each and every day. I hope when my children are where I'm at that I've done enough for them feel likewise. Dad, hold a spot on the lake up there for me, I'm not too far behind. Semper Fi.
