Michael Kidd-Gilchrist to miss entire 2015-16 season

Featured Replies

Separated his shoulder in preseason game on Saturday & needs surgery that will require him to miss six months.

Charlotte Hornets forward Michael Kidd-Gilcrhist will undergo shoulder surgery and likely miss the entire season, a league source told Yahoo Sports.

Kidd-Gilchrist is expected to miss six months with the injury, which wouldn't allow for a possible return until the final weeks of the season in April. It leaves little hope that Kidd-Gilchrist can return to the lineup this season.

Kidd-Gilchrist suffered a separated right shoulder in Saturday’s preseason victory over Orlando, and an MRI on Monday in Charlotte revealed the need for surgery. Kidd-Gilchrist, 22, signed a four-year, $52 million contract extension in September.

MKG

That's a bummer. Glad he signed that contract last month though.

Sucks for MKG

MKG suffers from that rare medical condition known as Derrickrose-itis.

He hasn't played a full season of basketball since the 2011-12 season. Poor fragile bastard.

Sucks, I think this is year 2 of his revamped jumper. I was hoping he could make a little bit of a leap with that this year. Shoulder injury most certainly won't help that. Maybe it will be like the kid in the baseball movie after he breaks his arm and throws straight gas. MKG will comeback and be lights out.

Nah. He's one more injury away from forced retirement.

Charlotte Hornets never seem to catch a break.

Dang why the heat for MKG.

I like MKG but his NBA career is starting to resemble Sam Bradford's NFL career. He cannot stay healthy at all. We still don't know how good he can be.

Ah ok I agree with that. It's terrible to because his body seems fragile but the way he plays and works is exact opposite.

MKG's injury could hurt Aaron Harrison's chances of making the squad. Down to 1 spot and thinking is that with MKG out the Hornets may go with a bigger player for that final spot.

Looks like Harrison made the team.

MKG returns tonite.
