How silly all of you experts in HS football will feel when HHS runs thru the district and goes deep in the playoffs.I say this because all of the teams in this district are far from power houses.I will put HHS past playing experience in championship and one and done games over the other teams.The only good game will be CCH for they have played a tuff schedule like the birds.

 

Being bad but better than teams that are worse is not a badge of honor.

I keep hearing a few HHS fans talking about how because of their history how Highlands will make it to BG this year. I hate to break it to you, but past history means nothing when you have a bad team. If you all don't play someone in your own district early on in the playoffs you may not even see Thanksgiving day practice and if you don't beat Dixie then you may as well prepare yourself for a possible one and done.

 

However great your past is, it can't come close to making up for this years team. Sorry.

People on this forum seem to have a problem identifying the difference in a great team and a great program. HHS's history has everything to do with this years team, next years and all the years after. When these kids get older and they are sitting around on Friday nights nursing a bad back and sore knees that they will swear came from a last second game winning touchdown in three feet of snow in July they can say they played for HHS. It won't matter what year to anyone listening. The name speaks for itself. There are better teams around this year that goes without saying, but how will they be remembered? As that one Team from that one school where everything just seemed to come together and they won a few games? There is a big difference in traditionally good and "we had a few good games"

There's also a difference in living in the past and living in the present.

How many playoffs games would Highlands need to win before they are 'deep' in the playoffs? Because if they can beat Cov Cath they can win their region, but those are the only two ranked teams in the region and neither is above 8th place.

I will take the Birds by 4-5 TDs.

 

I'm here too. Birds by a bundle and take out a lot of frustration on the Red Colonels. Dixie is going to pay for the beatings issued by 6A and Cincinnati schools when they play CovCath and Highlands. Not fair to them, but how I see it going.

id say getting to Pulaski would be deep... Im used to full playoff penetration though so I don't know what other teams call deep?

His post that you quoted was spot on! Dixie and Boone are not very good this year and wind Vs them doesn't mean someone is ready for the playoffs. He also correct on the fact that THIS Highlands team isn't great, it's not hate, all others see is that some are a little touchy on the subject about THIS year's team, and would bring in irrelevant information as it struck a nerve.

 

Truth... his post wasn't too hateful and was logical... I regretfully snapped a little. I think it was the FYI your team is bad... you know how many times in the past 10 years I couldve said crappy things like to other teams? but I was saying playing some teams that are not state contenders will HELP the birds because they can get in sync, gain some confidence and build trust. Then maybe just maybe they can make a playoff run when they get to this mode.

Highlands should cruise. If they struggle but still win a close one, that should be indicative of their immediate future. If they come out and control the game for 4 quarters, I'd say Highlands is ready to make a run.
