Different head coach, but the coaching staff is relatively the same. I'm positive this staff knows what it takes to compete in the playoffs, 5A, 4A, whateverA you want. Playoffs are playoffs. The class doesn't really matter, does it?

I'm taking Highlands on this one only because they can attack the field in more ways. But if they continue to have the tackling issues that they have shown in these recent games then it will be a long night. I see Dixie pounding it out on the ground attempting to limit Highlands chances.

 

I understand staying true to your team and tradition but sometimes realizing its just not your year is ok. What some Highlands fan need to remember here is that this is 5A playoffs this year not 4A. It wont be quite as easy to run the mill.

 

Could you elaborate on the "tackling" issues please? Tackling is the least of their worries defensively and I will leave it at that.

There is no difference other than the classification. They are equally hard. The toughest road to the championship depends on the depth within the classification. Point is it doesn't matter what class your team is in, the road is still the same.

You need to go buy a clue, there might, might be 1-2 good 1A teams, vs. 7-8 good 6A teams. The road most certainly ISN'T the same in the playoffs.

Not really. 5A and 4A outside the top 2 teams are little different, at least over the past 8 years. Both are dominated by a couple top teams and then a dramatic dropoff. At least from 07-14 it was that way more often than not. This year 5A has 4 teams tearing it up while it looks like 4A has two, maybe 3. Obviously how far a team outside those top teams can go depends entirely on how long they avoid facing those same top teams.

Paducah Tilghman 2009 entered playoffs at 4-6 and won the 3A title.

 

Trinity last year was 5-5 entering the playoffs and won the title.

 

I know there have been other teams with records around .500 entering the playoffs and made deep playoff runs, but I can't recall any other team with a losing record winning a title.
