Trinity won the game. there are 3 sides to a football game and 4 quarters. they all together equal a football game. one can say well this side did this this quarter did that. Trinity punched St. X in the mouth in the 1st half. St. X punched Trinity in the mouth the 2nd half and pitched a shutout. The game was close and could have went either way. I really wouldnt pencil in a Trinity Male matchup just yet. I would not count the Tigers out in a rematch if it comes to that. Just my take. Proud Tiger Alum.

The great thing about high school football is the redeeming factor. As an avid tiger fan, it hurts to type but it's true...get better and adjust or go home. Advantage Trinity. I respect that, but don't like it.

 

Male is the undisputed best team in the state of Kentucky.

 

Trinity was 4 mistakes away from winning by 5 tds, but St. X was also a dropped pick 6 from winning the game.

Jokes aside, both teams are great and I could see either of them winning the title, despite Male being the rightful favorite. I'm looking forward to St. X's regular season games against Male and Manual; those should be great.

I understand what you're saying, but those two things are not as important especially in high school football. Unless you have Jacob Tamme type kid, using a TE today typically means you have just become a slower team on offenses, and most high school offensives are running spread, so TE not as important. Under center is important in goal line/short yardage situations. In high school typically the teams top athlete is their QB so it easier for them to play QB in the gun and if they're under center you've just placed your best athlete five yards closer to the defense. Again, I get what you're saying, but those two things not as important today as they were 10 years ago.

 

So an early score that at was I believe 17 - 7 and thought X was going to be in for a long night, glad to see Coach Bruner and staff make the needed adjustments. X isn't there yet, but if they want to be their offense is going to have to be able to move the ball and pick up first against very defenses. Going three and out multiple series in a row is a recipe for a lopsided loss. In order to win a state championship they'll have to go through T and X's last 5 games will get them battled tested for a playoff run.

Everything X got Trinity gave them. TD after a bad snap gave them great field position. Field goal after a badly executed quick kick. Safety on another bad snap. Field goal X's only sustained drive that was kept alive when Trinity jumps offside. Trinity won bet they played badly in the 2nd half. Correct those mistakes and Trinity may have pitched a shut out.

 

X's QB is good but has little or no touch on the ball. Lots of passes off target and when he does get the ball to receivers they drop a lot of balls.

 

Personally I now like Manual to knock off the Tigers. That game will be played at Manual Stadium and the early forecast calls for rain. That means X would likely have to beat Male to get to Trinity again in the playoffs. Lots of football to be played. We'll see.

I appreciate your optimism and loyalty, I understand games are played for 4 quarters, but the miscues are mentioned because they are correctable errors that you will not be able to rely on to manufacture points if they meet again. One thing I know you can rely on is I cannot see X ever scoring enough points against T's or Male's defense, (barring injury) this is why I am going to pencil one of those 2 teams in.

I wouldn't call it our "vaunted offense" this year. Our offense is heavily dependent upon the run game. More methodical than explosive. It is different, but still effective.

 

X really keyed in on stuffing the middle in the second half and it worked. If you can stuff Reed you really can give this offense fits as of now. That said I am not worried, usually the offense looks much better by season's end.

Sounds like someone should call email or send a package to St. X and tell them to just pack it in and start working on next season. Heck they should forfeit the next few games for sure and not show up since they are awful and can in no way beat manual especially male and never ever start the bus to travel to the playoffs....you guys are a joke. All that excuse crap that was used in the earlier threads are being used here. If trinity would not have fumbled if Trinity would snap the ball better....how about if St. x doesnt drop the pick that would have given X victory at the final trinity drive. how about the # picks that X threw due to a wet ball....excuses can be thrown out everywhere. I gave trinity credit for winning no love for X playing a good football game...smh Its high school football. X beat trinity last year and los 9-3 in the playoffs and could have lost that game too. Male waxed trinity then threw an egg to propel trinity to the state...the year before Male was the IT team...yea they lost to Meade co and Scott co won it all. X stay at home you have no chance because you got lucky in this game and are in no way good enough to compete the rest of the way.... yada yada yada.....

Look, X played a great second half no one is denying it. If you honestly think that Trinity didn't pretty much give X 12 of their 15 points, then your comprehension skills worry me more than your language skills.

Could T have lost? Of course they could have. The fact of the matter is the X was given a short field on 2 occasions not due to their own ability but bad play on T's part. Did they score on those? Yes they did, of course if you don't get a TD from the 2 yard line then I would seriously worry about your boys. Even then that is only 10 of their points. They got 2 off of a blatant miscue that X did nothing to make happen on their own.

 

Also, Male lost to Scott County in 2013, not Meade County. Last of the big 3 to lose to Meade County was X in the first round in 2001.

 

The fact of the matter is that T's mistakes were almost entirely on T. X's ints were not. X's inability to really move the ball was not.

 

Fact of the matter is you were more or less given 12 points and still lost. I'm sorry to say, but it isn't helping your case.
