Look, X played a great second half no one is denying it. If you honestly think that Trinity didn't pretty much give X 12 of their 15 points, then your comprehension skills worry me more than your language skills.

Could T have lost? Of course they could have. The fact of the matter is the X was given a short field on 2 occasions not due to their own ability but bad play on T's part. Did they score on those? Yes they did, of course if you don't get a TD from the 2 yard line then I would seriously worry about your boys. Even then that is only 10 of their points. They got 2 off of a blatant miscue that X did nothing to make happen on their own.

 

Also, Male lost to Scott County in 2013, not Meade County. Last of the big 3 to lose to Meade County was X in the first round in 2001.

 

The fact of the matter is that T's mistakes were almost entirely on T. X's ints were not. X's inability to really move the ball was not.

I understand what you're saying, but those two things are not as important especially in high school football. Unless you have Jacob Tamme type kid, using a TE today typically means you have just become a slower team on offenses, and most high school offensives are running spread, so TE not as important. Under center is important in goal line/short yardage situations. In high school typically the teams top athlete is their QB so it easier for them to play QB in the gun and if they're under center you've just placed your best athlete five yards closer to the defense. Again, I get what you're saying, but those two things not as important today as they were 10 years ago.

 

So an early score that at was I believe 17 - 7 and thought X was going to be in for a long night, glad to see Coach Bruner and staff make the needed adjustments. X isn't there yet, but if they want to be their offense is going to have to be able to move the ball and pick up first against very defenses. Going three and out multiple series in a row is a recipe for a lopsided loss. In order to win a state championship they'll have to go through T and X's last 5 games will get them battled tested for a playoff run.

 

My point in my argument that the Tiger offense should at least use some under center and some TE's is for situational football. For those times in a game where everyone in the stadium knows you are going to run the ball and you must run it. Coming off the goalline. 3rd and 1. Late in the game with a small lead. I am in no way advocating a "3 yards and a cloud of dust" offense, but it is simply not wise not to have those tools in the arsenal. Trinity certainly does this. They are capable of spreading it out and flinging it, but they also can get under center, employ multiple TE's and sometimes a fullback, and pound the ball when needed.

 

For example, in the St. X - Trinity freshman game, Trinity punted the ball which was downed inside the 1 yard line. St. X lined up with no TE's in the shotgun with the QB 5 yards deep in the end zone and the RB a yard deeper than the QB. They ran a handoff to the RB. Due to no TE's, the defense had a short edge to penetrate into the backfield and score a safety. This would have been an avoidable situation by lining up under center with 2 TE's and running either a quick dive play to a FB or a QB sneak. To not have that capacity in that situation is ascinine.
