If there is one thing I dislike what Obama has done, it's the line in the sand, then we didn't do a thing.

I keep telling people, Putin is VERY dangerous! He will take as much land back behind the Iron Curtain as he can. After he sees that no one will fight against Assad, and stay out of Syria, he will see that it was due to HIS threats, then he will make his move elsewhere.

Putin is showing off for the Russian people, as well as, if there is more chaos in Syria, then more refugees will head to the EU making it more difficult for the EU to deal with.

Well, the US said that we will still have air strikes there. This could get interesting.

My understanding is that there have been no Russian troops that have moved into Syria. Russia is only conducting airstrikes and Putin has no plan to send in any forces on the ground.

Yeah what was that about the 1980s wanting their foreign policy back?

Russia isn't stupid.

Right out of the article you just provided in your link there...

"The Kremlin, however, sought to play down the decision, saying it will only use its air force in the Mideast country, not ground troops."

Take a little time to read things before you post them.

They do have troops there. It may be the air force but there are troops there for the air campaign.

Dont think for a second Russia dont have some troops there ready.

Ask sportsguy if Russia is more than prepared

Russian Parliament voted to give Putin authority to deploy ground troops...may not do it, but it sounds like they are threatening to at least.

Russia isn't stupid.

Mistakes and "mistakes" happen.

One example, the Malaysian airliner that went down over Ukraine.

Russia has around 600 military personnel on the ground.

Their first bombing runs were against Assad opposition, not ISIL.

This is a win-win for Putin. This helps the world forget about what they are doing in the Ukraine. They will not enter combat troops unless a plane goes down.

Russia is killing ISIS for us and you guys are complaining? Better a brutal dictator like Assad running Syria than Muslim fanatics!

What if things don't go so well for Russia? What if many life's are lost? Their economy is a disaster, the rubble is still at 65 per 1 USD when it was about 30 per 1 USD a year ago. Everyone there knows that his approval rating is faked, he is in the Kim (not Davis), Castro and Gaddafi range, and those numbers aren't real.

How much will the Russian people take?
