Bowling Green is still king. Pulaski County and Owensboro are right on their heels. Can those two or Fern Creek move up any in the near future? Anderson County took a hit and dropped out of the top 10. South Oldham moved in, who else has an argument for that position? Has Highlands earned the number ten spot? Do you really think Highlands will not win inside the class? How will the CovCath/Highlands argument end? Who moves up next week? Who moves down? Who is just outside the Top 10?

What's your thoughts on Anderson County?

No issues here for me!

I like Greenwood in that lower tier group. I don't think they beat BG, but I do think they are a solid 2 seed in the District.

Has Highlands earned the 10 spot? No Do I think H will not win inside their class? No, I think CovCath is the only district team that can beat them, although I know nothing about Dixie.

Southwestern #5 in BGP rankings but no mention in Journal? What's the disagreement on them?

Pulaski Southwestern is Southwestern.

Pulaski Southwestern is Southwestern.

Duh, thanks. That makes sense.

I was told in the Marine Corps that a stupid question is a question not asked. So that is why I always ask questions.

I would probably put Greenwood in the #10 spot. I think Highland will be ok in the class but I'm with you Purple88 on CC being the only one in there district that can beat them. I don't think Highland will win the 5A class, the top 6 or7 teams are good and just think that this is a down year for the birds. But this is Highlands and you just have to wait and see.

It's bias, pure and simple, and not really based on Highlands' performance, but at the end of the day, ask yourself, if Highlands and Greenwood squared off this week, who are you taking? Home, neutral, away, wherever. Do you really believe Greenwood wins it? Do you really believe they would improve upon Highlands' record if they played that schedule and/or that Highlands would do worse against theirs?

I like this year's Greenwood team, and they are performing far above what I thought they would when I saw what was a disaster of a scrimmage for them. I have little to base my opinion on other than inherited bias, but try as I might, I can't envision Greenwood improving upon anything Highlands has done.

My only thought for this DFire is, if I wiped your brain of your knowledge of Highlands football and Greenwood football and just called them 2 first year teams and they both had these records for the 2015 season, I don't think I would punish the team with the better records just to support a team that granted played a clearly tougher schedule, but didn't have success with that schedule. And I'm not saying I would pick GW over H. Just right NOW, I would pick GW. If H beats CovCath I would switch them. Or if GW beats BG then I would keep GW in front.

I have a Really big problem with highlands being number 10..I agree this is bias highlands has a great program and no one can argue that but we are going off of 2015 rankings and there not even in the discussion for a elite team this year.

Highlands has played and lost to the BGP #3 , #4 , #6 , #8 and #11 ranked 6A teams.

It's not like they're losing to cupcakes. They haven't played a team below 6A. Is there any team below #10 that would have fared better against that schedule? I don't know, someone else will have to answer that

But that's not the world we live in. We DO have the knowledge of those teams, and we are easily able to add into that the quality of the schedules. The only team Greenwood has played that is of the caliber of the teams Highlands has played is South Warren, and they beat them senseless, much like some of those teams have done to Highlands. Greenwood has not played a team at, or above their class. Highlands has not played an opponent yet that wasn't 6A, in a year where 6A is doing, really, really well. Even with South Warren, Greenwood's opponents that they've played are a combined 15-21 while Highlands' are 24-10.

Records are not gospel to me, and never will be. Give me absolute control over a schedule for a team of any capability, and I can make one that is 10-0 at the end of the regular season barring an act of God. Pre-district, it is quite easy to craft one that can make a team 5-0 or 6-0. I'm not saying that's what Greenwood has done in the least, but it is 100% NOT what Highlands has done. Until Greenwood beat someone of a decent enough caliber or Highlands tanks it against someone that is not on their level, I just find it almost impossible to overcome my bias about them. But truly, this is a special Greenwood team, regardless of what they are or are not ranked. This is a huge step for the program.
