Bluegrasspreps' Class 5A Rankings 9-28-15

Featured Replies

Highlands has played and lost to the BGP #3 , #4 , #6 , #8 and #11 ranked 6A teams.

It's not like they're losing to cupcakes. They haven't played a team below 6A. Is there any team below #10 that would have fared better against that schedule? I don't know, someone else will have to answer that

They've been blown out

And your point?

Who below them would fare better against that schedule?

I just find it almost impossible to overcome my bias about them. But truly, this is a special Greenwood team, regardless of what they are or are not ranked. This is a huge step for the program.
I agree with you overall post DF! And we are all biased to a point. Just looking to highlight a team that hasn't had much light on the football field.

I don't follow highlands football but I'm hoping I can get some help with this question....is there schedule ever this tough because from what I hear they play a pretty weak district every year and the road to the playoffs every year is a cake walk?.... So is the competition just to much for them this year?

My only thought for this DFire is, if I wiped your brain of your knowledge of Highlands football and Greenwood football and just called them 2 first year teams and they both had these records for the 2015 season, I don't think I would punish the team with the better records just to support a team that granted played a clearly tougher schedule, but didn't have success with that schedule. And I'm not saying I would pick GW over H. Just right NOW, I would pick GW. If H beats CovCath I would switch them. Or if GW beats BG then I would keep GW in front.

If Greenwood beats BG then I'm moving to my buddy's bomb shelter because the end of the world will be near.

Yes. The competition is too much for them this year. Their schedule is challenging but they have had tougher schedules than this one.

Rankings should be based on who would win if all those teams played this week. Like DragonFire said, Highlands would beat most of the 5A teams if they played today. That is why Highlands is at 10.

My point is that Highlands is getting the benefit of the doubt.

I don't know

Greenwood has never beaten the Purples since the school opened in 1991. Ask your buddy if he's got room for one more. Just in case!

It's bias, pure and simple, and not really based on Highlands' performance, but at the end of the day, ask yourself, if Highlands and Greenwood squared off this week, who are you taking? Home, neutral, away, wherever. Do you really believe Greenwood wins it? Do you really believe they would improve upon Highlands' record if they played that schedule and/or that Highlands would do worse against theirs?

I like this year's Greenwood team, and they are performing far above what I thought they would when I saw what was a disaster of a scrimmage for them. I have little to base my opinion on other than inherited bias, but try as I might, I can't envision Greenwood improving upon anything Highlands has done.

Its not bias it just an opinion I know a little about Greenwood but not a whole lot. Its just my opinion and I was going by the points scored and allowed plus win and loses. I know if Greenwood would not have as many wins if they played Highlands schedule. So don't get all defensive about just a comment some one makes. I think Highlands will win their district and they are just having a down year. I agree with something's you have said.

I think DF is talking bias about Highlands being ranked #10 . Not you being biased. DF isn't one to be confrontational or defensive when he posts. Not his style. That's my style. :D

Highlands is getting the benefit of the doubt. No argument there. They are down but when the question is posed "who else below Highlands would do better with their schedule...." the answer is no one.

I'd argue there are teams above Highlands who would have similar or worse results with the same schedule.

I also think that Pulaski County should be #1 but I'm fine with BG #1 .

That would be my bad. You know me I'm not that way either.

Yeah, knowing both of you guys personally I had to mediate real quick. :D
